    Block One Assembly

    1. Place one 4 ½” Fabric G square on the top left corner of the 8 ½” Fabric A square, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle 1/4" away from the sewn seam.

    2. Follow Figure 3, for the seam direction, to add a 4 ½” Fabric G square to each of the remaining corners of the 8 ½” Fabric A square to make the center unit (Fig. 4).

    3. Place one 4 ½” Fabric G square on the left side of one 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric C strip, right sides together (Fig. 5). Sew across the di-agonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 5). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 6). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

    4. Place another 4 ½” Fabric G square on the right side of the 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric C strip, right sides together (Fig. 7). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 7). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 8). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼”seam allowance. This completes one G/C/G unit.

    5. Repeat Steps 3-4 to make four G/C/G units total. 6. Repeat Steps 3-4 using four 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric B strips and eight 4 ½” Fabric L squares to make four L/B/L units total (Fig. 9). 7. Sew together one G/C/G unit and one L/B/L unit to make one Side Unit (Fig. 10). Repeat to make four Side Units total. 8. Place one 4 7/8” Fabric C square on top of one 4 7/8” Fabric M square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the

top square (Fig. 11). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 11). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 12) to make two C/M units (Fig. 13). Trim the units to measure 4 ½” square. Repeat to make eight C/M units total.

    9. Follow Figure 14 to sew together two C/M units and two 4 ½” Fabric C squares to make one Corner Unit (Fig. 14). Repeat to make four corner units total.
