WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course is designed for those with health and safety responsibilities including managers, supervisors, employee representatives and staff from all types of organisations who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues.
OBJECTIVES
The NEBOSH General Certificate learning outcomes, successful delegates will be able to:
• Understand the legal framework, moral and economic requirements and implications for good standards in health and safety within an organisation.
• Develop, promote and communicate an effective health and safety culture in an organisation.
• Identify the key features of a health and safety policy, the preparations and performance review of a health and safety audit.
• Understand the importance of proactive and reactive health and safety monitoring measures.
• Identify hazards in the workplace and carry out risk assessments, record findings and review procedures.
• Advise on strategies for controlling hazards, reducing risks and applying safe systems of work.
• Identify fire hazards and consequential risks, advise on measures to minimise fire risks and develop fire procedures.
• Explain the processes and procedures for investigating and reporting accidents at work.

LEARNING APPROACH
Classroom sessions with supporting presentations use a range of techniques to create an engaging and interesting learning environment. The overall duration of this course is 12 days and this is divided in to 2 separate 5 day taught blocks followed by 1 tutor lead revision day and 1 day of exams.
We include the tutor lead revision day as we find that the exam success rate is higher when the Delegates got dedicated tutor lead exam revision to complement their private revision.
FEATURES
The training commences with providing essential underpinning knowledge required to provide the first step on a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study.
A full set of learning materials is provided to each delegate in support of the learning and to take away at the end of the course.
Successful delegates will be awarded a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety at level 3. Success at this level will allow Technical membership of IOSH.
