Get involved with LocScot!As a committee we have been extremely fortunate to have had a most dedicated and enthusiastic team in place for some time. However, we are presently undergoing changes due to a variety of reasons - some member’s commitments have changed and new posts have taken some of our talented members on to new challenges. These changes are, however, giving us the opportunity to seek out new committee members and to reassess our priorities.
We are a group which is devoted to the care and dissemination of local and family history material in Scotland. The growing popularity of research and genealogy ensures we remain one of the busiest and most comprehensive departments of expertise within library services. We believe LocScot plays a crucial role in supporting those who work in local history. We are asking you to get involved and take this opportunity to create a really worthwhile network for you and your fellow local studies librarians.
We think it’s important to take time to get together, organise our network and create some really exciting events for anyone involved in local and family history. Those of us who are on the committee at the moment would really

WW 1 CentenaryWith the Great War commemorative period
just starting this year’s LocScot event is designed to inform and inspire all of us who work in Local Studies departments throughout Scotland. A host of local community groups, history societies, school projects and genealogists are relying on our resources to help them create unique commemorative projects throughout Scotland.

This day event is a chance to share our collective knowledge, network with those in other regions and learn from professionals about relevant FWW records, archives and online resources. A visit to the Black Watch regimental Museum will form part of our day and provide another perspective on FWW research. The day’s speakers have been
