Social Networking tools allow authors to reach out to new fans, and create larger fan bases.

• Social Networking tools are becoming more and more specialized everyday.

• Sites like GoodReads.com, LinkedIn.com, and RedRoom.com are niche networking tools for authors and writers alike.

• Sites such as GoodReads.com, RedRoom.com, etc. are all geared toward writers.

• These sites allow people to meet industry professionals and make new contacts.

• Writing improvement increases because the authors can provide one another with advice, personal experience, etc.

• Authors can mix and mingle with other genres, sub-genres, etc. by attending local writers meetings hosted by these various websites.

• A lot of good can come from these niche networking sites.

• Websites such as PostSecret.com, supported by authors raised nearly $500,000 for a suicide hotline, encouraging others to “post” their “secrets” about anything embarrassing, or shameful in their lives.

• The best authors on Twitter connect with their fans to create lasting, meaningful friendships.
