PRESIDENT’S COMMENTS: I am getting ready
to go to the
Delegates meeting
in Indianapolis.
Most of the items on the agenda deal with the
involuntary downsizing of the clubs. We plan on
having focus groups to address the issue, both for
attracting new members, and retaining the older
ones. Also on the agenda is the budget for the
coming year. Looking at the October financial
statement I cannot say with any certainty that the
AHCA will not raise dues next year. I sure hope that
we don’t.
For those of you who enjoyed the Banana Cake that
our clubs resident desert chef brought to the Healey
Day BBQ, Carolyn McAlister has sent the recipe. A
copy of it will be in this newsletter, and I will also
forward it to Jon Hanson for the website.
As I am sure you have heard by now, I have decided
not to run for or continue to be the president of the
Bonneville Austin Healey Club. After over 30 years
of holding different leadership positions in the club I
think it is time for others to lead the club. I still plan
on being an active member, just not the leader. The
November meeting is when the club nominates the
slate of officers for the coming year. I hope that
many of you will volunteer for a leadership position.
I hope to see you at the November meeting. I will
have the report from the Delegates Meeting. It will
also be a great time to reserve your spot for the
Holiday Party in December.
Happy Healeying,
Dave

EDITOR’S COMMENTS:
Sorry about the delay
in publication of this
month’s “Bonneville
Banter”. Carol and I
have been travelling a
lot this month (we managed to travel to both coasts
in October) and the time just didn’t allow me to
finalize the November issue until now.
If you haven’t seen the new “Jay Leno’s Garage”
television show, you really should do so. It’s an
hour-long show on CNBC every Wednesday at 8:00
pm (at least, that’s the Comcast time slot). It covers
various facets of the Car and Bike scene and is quite
entertaining. I think any “car guy” will really enjoy
this program.
Hopefully, the November weather will be conducive
to some more driving time for my Sprite. I haven’t
used it as much as I would have liked this year but
it’s nice to know that it’s in the garage and ready to
go when needed. I dread the thought of putting it

up for the winter but I’m afraid it won’t be too far in
the future.
We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Yikes,
Christmas is almost here! Please see details on the
BAHC Christmas Party in this issue.

McEligot’s Fall Drive
On Saturday, 10 October, we decided an impromptu Fall Colours Tour to Yankee Doodle's Cafe in Alpine for biscuits and gravy would be a good idea. Instead of Julie's BT-7, we took her BJ-9 (= sake-propelled

MX-5) since the BT-7 has not had enough successful test miles since the last service. We headed along parts of the Snake River and along Palisades Reservoir, now only 25 per cent full but still a lot of H2O. Rather than the usual fall colours of green and white, they were brown, straw-coloured and green with more-and-more yellow blooming along the reservoir as we headed uphill towards Alpine. Since we had the top down, I guess we should not expect white stuff. We reached the cafe too late for breakfast so we split a good sandwich instead of B&G.
We finished the round trip on the patio at Robin and Leon's world-famous Idaho Brewing Company. The trees around the patio were green, yellow and red. So we could have saved 150 miles for beautiful fall colours? It was great weather for an open roadster (and/or the IBC patio).
Have fun, Don.

3 ripe bananas mashed /add 1 1/2 tsp soda (set
aside)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c. butter or margarine
4 egg yolks
1 2/3 c. milk
Cream these 6 ingredients together, then add 3-
1/2c. flour and add banana and soda mixture.
Whip the 4 eggs whites stiff and fold into the cake

2016 Officer Election As you know, Dave and Sandy Maxwell have
decided to take a hiatus from being club officers
after this year. That means we need a new
President and Secretary/Treasurer for 2016. It’s
possible that other current officer positions will also
be open. Please give some thought to assuming an
open position and come to the November
Nomination Meeting prepared to “throw your hat in
the ring”. The future of the Bonneville Austin
Healey Club depends on your participation.
