Soap

Soap is the most common means that is used in bathing or washing for personal hygiene.

It removes excess oil & dirt from the skin.

Helps to get rid of dead cells. Gives refreshing feeling by eliminating

body odor. Exerts soothing effect

Mechanism of action

Soap dissolves in water to form free fatty acid & a strong base e.g. Na soap will produce NaOH.

Soaps act by forming emulsion with the oil & dirt molecules in water.

Thus they remove dirt and oil from body.

Composition Soap usually contains:

Sodium lauroyl isethionate, stearic acid, sodium palmitate, aqua, lauric acid, sodium isethionate, cocamidopropyl betaine, sodium palm kernelate, perfume, glycerin, propylene glycol, sodium chloride, zinc oxide, citric acid, tetrasodium EDTA, alumina, alpha-isomethyl ionone, benzyl alcohol, butylphenyl methylpropional, citronellol, coumarin, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool

both forms of liquid soap that are appropriate for cleansing the body.

Both are popular alternative to bar soaps for cleansing ,especially among women .

Body Wash Vs Shower Gel

The primary difference between these two is texture. Shower gel has a firmer, gel like consistency, while body wash is more like liquid soap.

They differ slightly in their concentration. Shower gel frequently has a higher concentration of fragnace & tends to go farther
