Boat Maintenance
• Before leaving dock make sure-
• Bilge plugs are in
• Drain the Bilge
• Check oil and gas levels
Refueling
• When Refueling-• Have a fire extinguisher nearby
• Have the engine turned off
• Slowly pour fuel into tank
• Make sure you don’t spill any and that there aren't any leaks
• And finally DO NOT SMOKE!
• If you choose to smoke while refueling this might happen…
Supplies
• Always make sure that you have these supplies before leaving-
• Air horn
• Flares
• Extra Propeller
• Radio
• Anchor & Rope/chain
Supplies
• Fire extinguisher
• Navigation lights
• Bell or Whistle
• Extra batteries
• PFD ( Personal Flotation Device)
• Spare keys
On The Water
• While always on the water make sure that-
• Everyone on the boat has a PFD
• Everyone is sitting down when moving
• The driver is not driving while impaired/under the influence!
Driving Safely
• When driving make sure you follow all makers
• This is easy to do by following the phrase “Red, Right, Return.”
• This means when returning to port you keep the red buoy on your right
