I - OBJECTIVE 

Men - The objective is to drink tenconsecutive containers of beer with aminimum elapsed time

Women - The objective is to drink five

consecutive containers of beer with aminimum elapsed time.

II - TEAM 

Each team shall have five membersdesignated Lead, Breakaway, Pivot,Turnaround, and Anchor. Apparel is at thediscretion of the team, however, novices tothe sport are advised that team uniformsare strongly encouraged.

III - CONTAINERS 

The official boat racing container shall bethe legislated LCBO 8 oz draft glass.Should none be available, a suitable 8 ozcontainer may be substituted instead.

IV - PROCEDURE  

Two teams shall position themselves five toa side at a table on which there are the

appropriate number of containers of beerdirectly in front of each team member. Menshall have two containers each, for tencontainers in total per team. Women shallhave one container each, for fivecontainers in total per team.

The referee shall ask the team if it is ready,and when so, yell “3… 2… 1… DRINK!”.When “DRINK” is yelled, the Lead shalldrink the contents of their first containerand touch the empty container to the table.

As soon as the Lead’s container touchesthe table, the Breakaway may pick up hisfirst container, drink its contents, and touchit to the table. The Pivot commencesdrinking when the Breakaway’s containertouches the table. And so it goes, until the

Turnaround’s container touches the table.The Anchor then drinks the contents of hisfirst glass, touches the empty glass to thetable, drinks the contents of his secondcontainer, then touches the secondcontainer to the table. When the Anchor’ssecond container touches the table, theTurnaround drinks the contents of hissecond container, and so it goes until theLead touches his second container to thetable.

The elapsed time for the race is consideredto be the difference in time between when“DRINK” is heard and when the Lead’s lastglass touches the table.

V - PENALTIES 

Should any team member leave more thanten percent of the contents of any of hiscontainers, the team shall be penalized. Afive second penalty is added to the elapsed

time for each container that wasinsufficiently consumed.

VI – DISQUALIFICATIONS 

A team shall be disqualified for any of thefollowing:

• Non continuous drinking – if any teammember cannot maintain continuous flowof liquid from container to mouth.

• If any team member touches either of hisglasses (or any other sportsmans’) priorto the stipulated time (see Procedure).

• If the Anchor moves (he may touch) thesecond container while the first containeris being consumed.

• For breakage of glass (however caused).• For excessively contesting any official

ruling. (see Officiating)

• For gross and intentional spillage (iethrowing beer)

• For gross internal externalization (iepuking) at the table.

VII - OFFICIATING  

There shall be a minimum of one Judge

and one Timer per team racing. It is theresponsibility of the Judge to ensure that allcontainers are “topped up” prior to the startof the race. The timer is responsible for theprecise measurement of the elapsed timeof the race. It is the responsibility of both towatch for any infractions which may lead toeither penalties or disqualifications.

All teams in a single heat have their racestarted by a designated Race Starter.He/she will start the race as describedabove. Upon completion of the race, theJudges and Timers meet to discuss anyinfractions and then announce the officialtime of the race.

The correct procedure for contesting timesand infraction calls is to elect onerepresentative from the team to discussJudge/Timer calls. Keep in mind this is acivilized sport!
