The Deltabase 520 Multipurpose Drill Rig

is designed for optimum performance for:

The DB 520 is a most versatile drill rig

suitable for all geotechnical applications. It

can be mounted onto a crawler, small

sized trucks or trailor.

The unit is powered by a 4 cylinder Deutz

engine or by PTO from the truck engine.

The drill rig has the capacity to drill in an

angle of 90 degrees in the axle of the rig.

Further to this 90 degrees capacity the

mast can be swiveled in a 360 degree

angle perpendicular to the axle of the rig

(option). This movement is made by

hydraulic cylinders which allow to the turn

the mast for 90 degrees in one movement

(45 degrees to each side). The full turn is

obtained by moving the cylinders to

different attacks.

The mast has a mast dump facility

allowing to adjust the distance between

the ground and the bottom clamps.

All hydraulic cylinders are mounted with

non return valves.

The stabilising cylinders at the corners of

the rig can be operated independently.

Various gauges enable the operator to

maintain exact control.

The drill rig is equipped with a double

clamping system at the bottom of the

mast. The clamps are for holding and

breaking drill rods, casings and tools. The

upper one of the two camps can be

hydraulically turned in order to break

thread connection.

In order to avoid damages on drill rods,

the clamping force can be adjusted by a

pressure control, valve, a flow regulator

and a pressure gauge.

The power head is of hollow spindle type.

It is built with a floating spindle, minimising

the wear and damage on the drill rods

threads during making and breaking the

threads.

As an option an hydraulic chuck can be

mounted.

The head is powered by a hydraulic motor

VOLVO and a HURTH gear box with

speed reducer resulting in 8 gears. The

change between the gears is manually.

The rig is equipped with an emergency

shut down system via two emergency

stops shutting down feed and rotation

within minimum delay.

The maximum torque generated by the

head is 6.000 Nm, maximum RPM are

600.

To make room for operating rods and

casing with the hoist the power head can

be shifted laterally by a hydraulic cylinder.

As an option the drill rig can be equipped

with an automatic SPT.

As an option a tip out device for the drill

head is available, enabeling the operator

to put the drill head into horizontal position

resulting in a easier rod handling.

The control panel is located on the right

side of the drill rig (mast in front)
