DESCRIPTION

it began as a 2 hr workshop,as a means to introduce one to game design practically & in quick time. The more i did these workshops, the more i realized that it not only allowed people to understand , but also apply design in a simple & easy manner.Every workshop ended with groups of participants coming up with small games, which an hour back was literally impossible. all that was needed, a few bits of paper, pen or pencil, dice & game bits and a whole lot of interaction, brainstorming, design thinking, creating game rules & testing playable game prototypes. The realization of having designed something as unthinkable as a game, with literally nothing & having enjoyed playing it with friends all of this & more within 2 hours, is an unbelievable experience to have.

What is a GAME An activity with RULES-It is a form of play, often but not always involving conflict, either with other players or with the game system itself.(Challenges for Game Designers)OR Games are a system in which players engage in an artificial conflict, defined by rules, that results in a quantifiable outcome (Rules of Play)Name a GameWITHOUT rules 8. What is GAME design Its is NOT Art, It is NOT ProgrammingGame Design is the process of creating the CONTENTand the RULESa SYSTEM for that game.Good game design is the process of creating GOALS that a player feels motivated to reach and the rules that a player must follow as he makes meaningful decisions in pursuit of those goals 9. Rules = System Design= Mechanics Rules for setup-How does the game begin? Rules for progression of play- Once the game begins, what can the players do, and what happens when they do things? Rules for resolution- What, if anything, causes the game to end? If the game has an outcome (such as winning or losing), how is that outcome determined? The creation of those rules is System Design 10. Playing Tic Tac Toe 11.
