Subject Introduction letter and resume

Dear Commissioner Cassanelli

1 am Applying for the Josephine County Commissioner Position 3 vacancy I have livedin Josephine County since 1989 met and married my wife Lorraine in 1992 nineteen years agoStarted and managed Hardwoods Plus Company a successful wholesale retail business sinceJanuary of 1992

I believe in and will abide by our Home Rule County Charter and the Constitutions ofOregon and the United States of America As a Commissioner I will defend and protect ourCharter and Constitutions to the best of my ability

In 2003 I applied for Commissioner Brocks Position after he announced he was going toquit but instead he decided to switch seats and lost to Mr Ellis In the Primary of 2006 Idefeated the incumbent commissioner with a third place finish I then decided to continue thecampaign and run as a write in candidate in the General Election when Sheriff Daniels withdrew

from his number one spot leaving Mr Toler on the ballot by himself This hopefullydemonstrates my willingness and perseverance to see the job through I am a self starter with theenthusiasm and the energy of a thirtyyearold even though Im know 65 I was determined toserve the citizens then and eager to answer the call now

I have fresh ideas as demonstrated in my 2003 resume and during my 2006 campaignThose concepts are as valid today as when I first announced them Justice of the Peace Court

System setup and coordinate informational meetings through out the county stimulate oureconomy through temporary permit reduction and secure long term funding for the sheriff sdepartment

The BCC and our Citizens will be facing hard times fortunately Mr Ellis realizes he isnot up to the task I am You need to do whatsbest for our citizens our county and yourselvesby appointing me to your Board

In closing I want to take this opportunity to thank you for considering me for this veryimportant and prestigious position on your Board of County Commissioners Please referencemy attached resume for my perso and ork history

The term representatives of the news media is not defined We haveinterpreted that term to include newsgathering representatives ofinstitutionalized news media that ordinarily report activities of the

body6411 This interpretation should be expanded to includerepresentatives of media that ordinarily report matters of the natureunder consideration by the body

Current technologies make it easy to disseminate information to apotentially broad audience Sloggers and others using thesetechnologies sometimes seek to attend executive sessions asserting thatthey are representatives of the news media A decision whether suchan individual should be permitted to attend an executive session mustbe made on a casebycase basis as no clear definition of news mediaexists Public bodies should consult with their legal counsel when facedwith this type of request
