entrepreneurship program from January 4-14,

2016. The Economic Times hosted this



program in association with Jio, Department

of Science & Technology (DST),

Government of India and the Centre for

Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship

(CIIE), IIM Ahmedabad, to encourage

everyone with a business idea to realize his

entrepreneurial dream. The business idea

“Split Lamp”, which was submitted by

Dr.H.V.Srinivas, Lumisoft Ltd., Bengaluru,

is one of the 56 awardees in the contest out of

18,600 business ideas received. The technical

support for the same was proposed by

Research Project proposal titled “Synthesis

of 2,6 Polyazulenes for Organic Electronic

Applications” to SERB. His proposal has

been approved and grant of Rs.28,68,000/-

has been sanctioned.

workshop “100 years of chemical bond” at

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced

Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru.

Engineering. He took charge from the

outgoing Principal, Dr.S.Venkateshwaran.



January 30, 2016: Distinguished alumni of

BMSCE- Civil Engineering instituted annual

scholarship in memory of T.V.Chidambariah

(Rs.10,000/- cash and certificate) to the Civil

Engineering Students - one for the topper

from all six semesters and another for top

scorer in Irrigation course. The students of 8th

Semester Civil Engineering Mr.Gaurav Shah

for scoring CGPA of 9.38 and Mr.T.Sachin

for scoring 87 (A Grade) in the course -

Hydraulics Structures received cash award of

Rs.10,000/- each.

Element Methods for VTU EDUSAT

Programme: 20 classes to be conducted

during Even Semester.

January 30, 2016: Dr.G.Giridhara,

Professor, Department of Mechanical

Engineering submitted Research Project

proposal titled “Inter-Shaft Squeeze Film

Dampers-An Exploratory Study” to GATET-

DRDO. His proposal has been approved and

grant of Rs.9,91,619/- has been sanctioned.

This is the first project proposal from

BMSCE to Gas Turbine Enabling

Technology (GATET).

Telecommunication Engineering organized a

Symposium on “Introduction to Amateur

Radio”. It was an initiative by

Mr.M.K.Rakesh, alumni of the Department

to create awareness and benefits of radio

wave communication. The other speakers

from Amateur Radio Society of India were

Mr.C.S.Vivek, Drone Aerospace systems,



Mr.Madhu Prasad, SAB Miller and

Mr.Krishna Kumar, Design Euphoria.
