BMDW needs to be modernized

• System running on Windows 2003 software which is no longer supported

• There are better Search tools available

• Modern/user friendly website is needed

• BMDW is used by a lot of registries as there only search tool, we have to support the needs of these organisations

• BMDW is the only place in the world with data of the entire world, only access point, 75 registries and 53 cord blood banks

What has been achieved:

• BMDW became an independent foundation in May 2015

• Share office and services with Europdonor / WMDA

• The transion board has become the official board: Jeff Chell, Henny Braund, Frans Claas, Carlheinz Müller and Rudolf Schwabe

• New Bylaws are written and available on the BMDW website• New House rules (will be approved by the board on 3/11/2015)

• ICT Project manager has been engaged for 3 months to evaluate the needs and write a project plan

• New fee schedule: listing and searching

• Invoices send out to registries and organisations / people doing searches: 185 registries, 210 TCs/ search units

• We have yet to compete a revenue cycle to determine the funds available for investment in IT

Registries and TCs Update of existing Data Base

• 1st step: checking users: 929 users in the old database + 75 registry addresses + 49 TC / search unit addresses(email) addresses have now complete information of users

• new situation: 185 registry addresses (some registries have more than one user) / 210 TC / search unit addresses (total: 33 new users)
