3. Setting up your tax details: Withholding Tax and residency certificates

Now you are a global player selling apps everywhere from Mexico City to Munich it is likely you will be subject to international Withholding Tax between Spain and your country of residence for tax purposes.

Fortunately Spain has a wide network of double taxation agreements. This means if you can prove you reside in the country you say do, and that country has a double taxation agreement with Spain, then you will not be subject to any Withholding Tax deductions.

When entering your tax details you will be told whether your country of residence for tax purposes has a double taxation agreement with Spain. If it does then send an email to

[email protected]. The team will provide you with all the information you need to send to prove your tax residency.

If your country does not have a double taxation agreement with Spain, and up until the point you prove your tax residency, we will need to retain 24% of your net earnings (which we pay to the Spanish tax authority).

Hint: You may be able to recover this withholding tax from your local tax

authority. It is worth contacting them to find out.
