Life Span In the case of ordinary discs, the disc life is less .
In the rewritable versions, as re-writing is donerepeatedly to one area of the disc most probably, the inner perimeter limiting the disc life.
BDFS (Blu-ray Disc File Structure is designed so asto avoid this problem, by using a system that usesfree disc spaces with equal frequency

Capacity
The Blu-ray disc enables the recording, rewriting and playback of HD video up to 27GB of data on a single sided single layer. It is
enough to put 2.5 hours of HDTV recordingon it. It also can record over 13 hours ofstandard TV broadcasting

Robustness of Disc
Stronger resistance to scratches andfingerprints The protective layer is hardenough to prevent accidental abrasions andallows fingerprints to be removed by wiping
the disc with a tissue.
Compatible
The BD drives are designed to bebackwardcompatible, i.e. CDs and DVDs workequally well with the BD drives.

HDTV contains a copyright bit thatis detected by the BD recorder. If
the broadcast has no copyright bit, then the BD recorder is allowed tostore the informationUses the Data Encryption Standard(DES) that has a key length of 56bitsA Key Block and Disc ID are writteninto the ROM area to prevent illegalcopying
