With this group were a num- ber of Blue Point children who had received their First commu- nion at St. Lawrence church, Sayville, May 10. They were: Kevin Dugan, Patrick Dugan , Paul and Peter Geifer , Cabrini Cirillo , Norma Schmitt, Regina Kenney, Joseph Downer, Kathe- rine Felton and Irene Farrell. After the service breakfast was served to the children and their parents and friends in the church hall. At 5 p. m. the ceremony of the crowning of the Blessed Virgin took place. A procession of chil- dren entered the church, with Karen Swenson carrying the crown. Gertrude Findeis crowned the statue. The children recited the Rosary. The band played "Forward March, " "Alpha Waltz," "Allegiance March" and "Iri s Waltz . " with the baritone horn played by Teddy Still car- rying the melody. Timmy Still and Walter Gormsen played a trumpet duet , "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean , " and Carl Gar- ire and Carl Hamann presented a clarinet duet, "Russian Melody. " The chorus sang an old English air. "Hi , Ho, Is Anybody Home?" "Whispering Hope ," "Tell Mo Why." "It' s Me , Oh Lord. " tho "Orchestra" song and, as a finale, "Panis Angelicus." The study of instrumental music was started last fall , and the band has been organized only five or six weeks. It gave a remark- ably fine performance. At 5 p. m. the ceremony of thecrowning of the Blessed Virgintook place. A procession of chil-dren entered the church, withKaren Swenson carrying thecrown. Gertrude Findeis crownedthe statue. The children recitedthe Rosary. The ceremonies con-cluded with the benediction.
