More than 60 restaurants and food purveyors took part in the 23rdinstallment of Toronto Taste, inside and outside the ROM onSunday, June 9th, offering culinary creations to over 1,500 food-ies, in support of Toronto food rescue program Second Harvest.Food and wine lovers who paid the $250 ticket price were treatedto a dizzying array of seemingly endless fine food and wines, andgot the opportunity to rub shoulders and be served by some ofToronto’s top chefs, including Food Network chefs Mark McEwanand Michael Smith.

The event was hosted by Food Network’s Bob Blumer and FoodNetwork Chef and recording artist Roger Mooking, with auctions, both silent, and live, and one online, adding into SecondHarvest’s charitable pot, all the while feeding guests some trulyfantastic food. Chefs served up everything from dainty zucchinifritters to pork sandwiches slathered with bacon-fat mayo!Seafood also took a fair amount of attention, with almost everyform of crustacean and fish handed out, either raw (as sashimi)or delicately paired with veggies like fennel to complement thedish. The Bloor-Yorkville BIA was the proud Venue Sponsor. Delectable

dishes were prepared by area restaurants: Café Boulud: TylerSheddon, One: Mark McEwan, Pangaea: Martin Koupre,Sassafraz: Geoff Web, Crêpes à GoGo: Véronique Perez.

Second Harvest is a food rescue program which receives dona-tions of surplus fresh and frozen food, and delivers it to local com-munity agencies. Over the years, Toronto Taste raised over $9million in support of Second Harvest, and this year’s event raisedfunds for more than one million meals, to be served to those inneed. An unforgettable evening, in support of Second Harvest!

Despite rain and grey skies earlier in the day, the bad weathercleared to make the 4th annual Yorkville Exotic Car Show an in-credible success! Attendance was stellar, with somewhere in be-tween 70,000 to 80,000 people showing up to view the thorough-breds on display on Father’s Day, June 16th.

The show contained a few sections, themed by car make, includ-ing Ferrari, Lotus, Porsche, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and a sec-tion dedicated to the classic generations of BMW’s. The 2014Aston Martin Vanquish received a lot of attention throughout theday and a very special car also made a rare appearance; the“BatBerry”, a replica of the Batmobile.

The event also made an important impact on the community, rais-ing a record $40,000 this year for Prostate Cancer Canada. Anadditional $20,000 was also raised onsite, with raffle ticket salesfor a chance to win a limited edition 2013 Camaro ZL1, on displayat the show!
