However, Dufferin Park as we now know it may be in trouble because of trouble caused by a lack of accountability for the money being spent. In May the “Friends of Dufferin Park” organization received a notification from the internal auditor, who wished to enforce more accountability with the way money handling in the park was taking place. Currently duties such as the running of the Dufferin Park Farmers Market and skate rentals are handled by the Centre for Local Research into Public Space (CELOS) and volunteers. CELOS is a supposedly non-profit corporation run by unelected members. However, because of the structure of this group, city officials worry that there is no accountability for money with the CELOS. Earlier this year CELOS received a $100 000 Trillium grant to invest in the park as they see fit, independently from the city, and therefore free of any enforced accountability. One possible of the possible options suggested by the city included was giving the control of the park’s finances to Toronto Parks and Recreation. The future of the services offered in the park was uncertain because of the lack of accountably of CELOS. By the end of this past summer, a new staff had been hired by the City to over see maintenance of the park. According to the Friends of Dufferin Park website postings supporters of the park want to continue functioning as they always have, described as "flexible, innovative ways that local parks staff have continually adapted over the last 20 years". Conforming to the regulations placed on other parks in the city would detract from the character of the park and community. The concern is over the "institutional context" of a “one size fits all" management policy run by the Toronto parks and recreation. Ward 18 City Counsillor Ana Bailao has promised to try and protect the park.

The ‘occupy’ crew these days seem tohave a pretty simple complaint- 5% ofthe population controls everything, andthe other 95% are being blindly takenadvantage of. Not everything is so blackand white. The wealthy companies startoff with a marketable idea and make astupid amount of money selling stocks togroups/individuals looking for futurefinancial security.

Marxism, Communism, Capitalism orCannibalism, every system ofgovernment has it’s advantages anddisadvantages. It’s difficult to demonizeany system of government when thepopulation has been so out-of-whack fordecades. With the power and size of thebaby-boom generation and the audacityof a bunch of hippies to bear children,(MY parents, so don’t take this commentpersonally!) Cannibalism might just bethe only option. People are living longer, and retiring later, with every right to doso. The retirement age was based on atime when people simply got too old towork and died shortly after they retired.Few people want to stop working at 55-65 and sit around twiddling their thumbsfor decades; even fewer can afford to do

so. Babies of boomers are looking forjobs that don’t exist so they can buy thehouses they can’t afford, while living inthe parents basement with thegrandkids. The dream was a lovely unionjob, with benefits, but big corporationscan’t survive when it costs $45 to makeitems worth $1. Protecting the rights ofemployees is all well and good, but themoney coming in can’t be a fraction ofwhat is being paid out- it’s simple math.

See, kids, blame your parents, just likeyour therapist always said. The unionsthought to invest in big corporations, andin doing so, all the stocks went up so youcouldn’t afford them. When bigcorporations are bad capitalists, theirstocks go down, your parents retirementfun is depleted, and they have to sell thehouse and move to a bachelor pad. Now,you don’t have much choice but tooccupy the park. Much of themanufacturing has moved overseaswhere labour is less expensive, free ofunions demanding silly things like health-care and minimum wage. The bigcorporations save a few billion, and theinvestment generation reaps thebenefits. Retirement funds are

maintained, mom and pop don’t have tosell the family home, and you still have abasement to go back to when they evictyou from the park. Unfortunately, toomuch foreign manufacturing has it’sdisadvantages. The unionized jobs beinglost overseas essentially erodes themiddle class, affecting spendingpatterns. In the end, there becomes astrong presence of poor versus filthyrich, with little or nothing in between. Onthe other hand, many products come atvery competitive prices, giving the lower-earning citizens the ability to afford someof the basic needs and frills of living. It’sa no-win and, even if all of the middle-aged hippies sold their stocks, convinceda giant meteor was heading towardsEarth, it would take decades for thejobless in-betweeners to actually getanything out of it.

There are people who worked really hardto make big buildings with shinywindows, and it resulted in pension plansconsisting of more than just a cheapwatch. Don’t knock capitalism, becausethat basement in your parent’s home isgoing to look mighty good when JackFrost slides into your tent.

Three Exhibits Unveiled at The Power Plant

Fifty pocket-sized, blue bookshang in a perfect square from theceiling of a large, white room.Beneath, people push three rollingladders from book to book. Theyclimb up, tilt their heads sideways, open the pages and read. Thiswas one of the scenes at ThePower Plant’s fall season openingparty. The art gallery, locatedbeside the Harbourfront Centre, unveiled three new exhibitionsand a commissioned artwork. “Allthree exhibitions, while separateprojects by artists from differentparts of the world, collectivelyconsider narrative mutability,”said The Power Plant in a pressrelease.

Toronto-based artist DerekSullivan was the only exhibitionistto attend the opening. The books

dangling from the gallery’s ceilingare part of his “AlbatrossOmnibus.” There was also a large,accordion-shaped wall. Eachzigzag represents the left andright pages of a book. “Mutability,a characteristic of Sullivan’spractice, is deepened in thisexhibition, with different formsand ideas folding into one anotherin a way that tests the boundariesof the infinite,” says the pressrelease. Sullivan’s work marks theseventh instalment of TheCommissioning Program at ThePower Plant. The program isongoing and aims to showcasemajor new works by artists whosework reflects local, national andinternational dialogues.

Opposite Sullivan’s piece was“The Plot” by Keren Cytter, Jos deGruyter and Harald Thys, andIsabelle Pauwels. The threevideographers share a non-linearnarrative approach to explorehistory, human relationships andspace created by the camera. Aconstructed hut showcased two ofthe films. One side was straw-covered, with a window-likeopening to look through. The otherside had a chair and headphonesplugged into a TV. The third filmwas projected overhead on a wall, with three rows of cubes as seats.

Upstairs was a mock saloonexhibit, “Welcome to the HotelMunber,” by Simon Fujiwara. “[It]is a multi-layered installation thatsets the stage for his parents’

lives during the Franco era inSpain. The work is areconstruction, based onphotographs and oral histories, ofthe bar in his parents’ hotel duringthe 1970s,” according to ThePower Plant’s press release.

These exhibits will run fromSeptember to November. For moreinformation, you can visitwwww.thepowerplant.org.

Nuit Blanche 2011 --- Art Toronto 2011For one night the city fell at thefeet of nightwalkers: NuitBlanche 2011 engagedaudiences at new, sometimesliteral, heights. Over 130projects – many kinetic, interactive and sound-based –roared through three zones thatarrested the downtown core.Crawlers could fly acrossziplines in Nathan PhillipsSquare and could pixelateimages of their faces and changeit into music in Yonge andDundas Square. “The eventcontinues to push theboundaries of contemporary artin public space, while making itaccessible to new audiences,”said a news release, publishedthe day after the event.

Hanky Panky At The Riverdale ZOO Not a Ford Cut!

Issue # 23 Oct / Nov2011

St. James Town News

As a lifelong resident of ward 28,I've always felt that the RiverdaleFarm was one of the true jewels ofCabbagetown. It is still a veryimportant part of my life so I wasgenuinely disturbed when I learnedthat the farm was under threat ofbeing closed down. The debateover the farm's future took on alife of its own this past summer, and with tax-payers footing the billfor an army of volunteer staffproviding free labour, they musthave raised tens of thousands ofdollars in the interim. TheRiverdale Farm AdvisoryCommittee need only point to thevast sums donated by Friends ofRiverdale Farm (FRF) over theyears as proof positive that thecommunity has its full supportbehind them. Unlike mostaccredited charities who are onlytoo willing to proudly point to theirachievements, the FRF seems to

prefer a more vague method ofaccounting. Although there are ahandful of nebulous postsregarding unnamed programsfunded and the “reinvesting offunds into existing facilities”,there is no mention whatsoever ofverifiable contributions to thefarm. In regards to the farm itself,

after failing to find any visibleproof of their generosity, I askedseveral of the city employees onsite if they could point to any ofFRF's contributions. Unfortunately, none seemed willing to risk thewrath of their superiors. Icontacted both Friends ofRiverdale Farm and the RiverdaleFarm Advisory Committee to askwhether they could provide any

proof that FRF had donatedanything more tangible than“community spirit” as that hadbeen the public line these pastseveral years. Neither groupresponded. Many of the Farmer'sMarket vendors happily spokeanonymously about having beenforced to join FRF, but, none werewilling to risk their spot onTuesday afternoons by publiclytalking about the Manager'sbehaviour. There are severalinstances that indicate former FRFDirector, Elizabeth Harris has along standing relationship withWard 28 Councillor PamMcConnell. Now I am in no positionto cast doubt on their relationship. However, Councillor McConnell’smembership this year on the FRFSteering Group and hersubsequent failure to open FRF'sbooks to public scrutiny only addsto the actions of the city. Sure, the food was fantastic thefirst time around, but too manyrestaurants are hit and miss. Asecond visit looks at consistency, without which few can succeed.Day-old bread can be disguisedby warming, toasting orslathering it with toppings. Theobvious freshness of this breadcouldn’t be disguised, even underthe warm toppings. Tomatoesthese days have little or noflavour, but the ones used in themarinara sauce and atop theBruschetta ($5.95) tasted likethey came of the vine that day. They were generous with themozzarella cheese, as there wasno need to hide it’s quality either.I was amazed to discover myeditor, Paul, had actually triedsomething so adventurous assquid in the past, and that wasexactly what he ate- deep fried, greasy, rubbery squid. I doubt hewill ever go back. You could cutthe tender rings with the BACK ofa spoon. Paul almost cut my handoff with his knife when I reachedfor more. The marinara saucewas far above and beyond what Iexpected- I often find it bland andwatery, but this was thick andrich with flavour. The sauce andcalamari were amazing together, and I would have happily eateneither on it’s own. For entrees,Paul and I tried two distinctively

different dishes. I would swimthere in a hurricane to check outtheir classic dishes, but opted forsomething a little different-Spaghetti pesto with pine nuts. Iusually find pesto sauceoverpowering, with far too muchbasil to taste anything else, butthis had just the right amount ofbasil, and the other distinctflavours, like the olive oil, madefor a light and tasty dish. The pinenuts were a welcome addition, providing depth and a pleasanttextural contrast. I only used apinch of parmasan, and it wasmore than enough to accentuatethe taste without disguising it. Paul’s dish didn’t need cheese-the gnocci was bathed in therichest and tastiest gorgonzola. Ihave never heard anyone actuallygiggle with glee over food. Afterthreatening, for the second time,to stab me with a fork, Paul toldanyone who would listen that thiswas “the best food [he] had evertasted”, and promptly applied forthe position of adopted son.Within minutes of my arrival, I

already felt likepart of the family. The genuinehospitality is justpart of who theyare- you aren’t justa customer, but avalued guest intheir “home”.Appreciation isshown throughwelcome, comfort, and food; spiced,

cooked and presented from thebottom of the heart. Most of thestaff have been there fordecades. The likelihood offinding a long-term career in therestaurant industry in oneestablishment is up there withbeing hit by lightning. It says agreat deal about theownership. The prodigal son is offin Australia with his fiance, neglecting his culinary geneticgift in his quest to save lives, butif a grandchild is born with anyinterest in Italian cuisine, he orshe WILL learn how to cook, evenif it takes place on ‘skype’. Itseems unrealistic to have nothingnegative to report, but I would belying if I even hinted atdisappointment. Regina Pizzeriaand Trattoria is simply incredible, and those who have yet toexperience what they have tooffer have no idea what they aremissing.

Some people, although dead, stilllive in the hearts of theirsupporters. Frank Sinatra is such aperson, whose songs shall alwaysecho in the memory of hisaudiences, whose spirit shallalways be cherished and shared byhis fans. Today, in commemorationof Frank Sinatra the legendaryvocalist who passed away twodecades ago, the Frank SinatraFamily and Frank SinatraEnterprises devoted substantialeffort to recreate the Sinatraambiance by launching the musical“Come Fly Away”.

To perceive “Come Fly Away” as amere musical is like seeing only thetip of an iceberg. Taking place inthe Four Seasons Center for thePerforming Arts from August 18thto 28th, this extraordinary 70-minute show is a truly delicatecombination of various refinedcomponents. Whether it is theexceptional talents, the hightechnology, the geniuschoreography, or the original vocalrecording of classic Sinatra songslike “Fly Me to the Moon”, “My Way,and “That’s Life”. Thanks to hightechnology, Sinatra’s vocalrecording is combinedimmaculately with the live musicperformance of a professional 14-piece on-stage band. Whileindulging in Sinatra’s charmingvoice, one can’t help but marvel atthe adept application of moderntechnology that rendered suchreminiscent, authentic Sinatra airpossible. As the classic Sinatrasongs produced through advancedtechnology gives “Come Fly Away”a soul, the breath-takingchoreography conceived by TonyAward®-winner Twyla Tharp givesthe musical wings to soar. Inaddition to the several traditionalballet moves like fouettés entournant and the graceful grandjeté, various creative new movesare also incorporated into themusical, encouraging the audienceto break-free from the conventionalframework of dance moves. Inintroducing such innovativechoreography in “Come Fly Away”,

Tharp impressively brought ballet toa whole new level. Meanwhile, under Tharp’s training, the 15professional dancers subtly andprecisely performed each move inperfect correspondence withspecific lyrics and melody of theSinatra songs. Each characterwould exhibit a distinctive set ofdance moves to reflect a uniquepersonality, alongside brilliantlyplaced comedy that never fails totrigger a good laugh. Thanks to therefreshing choreography, thedancers’ skillful change in facialexpressions, as well as the well-designed costumes, the characters’complex emotions weresuccessfully conveyed to theaudience. From the sweetness offirst dance to the grief of the finalfarewell, it would not take long forone to become deeply engaged inthe vivid sentiments of romance, sorrows, passion, and deceptionthat brought alive the beautiful lovestory of four distinct couples in anightclub.

Now, such remarkable balletperformance on stage would nothave existed without the dancers’persistent and countless effortdedicated to the off-stagepracticing, sustained primarily bytheir passion towards dancing.Upon interviewing MarinaLazzaretto, one of the dancers inFrank Sinatra Enterprises, much isrevealed about the dancers’ lifeback-stage. With nine years ofexperience as a professionaldancer, Marina undertook multiple

roles in “Come Fly Away”, namelytwo principle roles along with all theensemble girl roles. In fact, according to Marina, it is notuncommon for dancers to covermultiple roles. “This way, in casesomeone is injured, there willalways be back-up.” Marina pointedout, “No matter what, the utmostpriority for us as professionaldancers is for the show to goon.” Growing up in a small town inAlberta, Marina’s love for dancingcan be traced back to earlychildhood. With much talent andpersistence, Marina later made it toNew York, and eventually seized thechance to dance with Twyla Tharp.“The opportunity to work with TwylaTharp meant a lot to me.” Marinaproudly stated, “Tharp is alegendary choreographer. She was,is, and still will be my source ofinspiration.” In turn, Marina hopesto inspire young dancers, as sheadvised, “to achieve your dream, you have to first follow it.Sometimes, goals that seem largeare not necessarily out of reach.”Behind the stage, there arenumerous dancers like Marina, whodeem dancing as not merely a jobbut a passion for life; who areinspired by and also hope to inspire;who have achieved their dreams byfollowing them; who have practiceddiligently to deliver an outstandingperformance.

Surely, this summer evening can belike any other summer evening. Youcould perhaps take a walk outside, watch TV at home, chat withfriends, or read a book…Until youwalk into the Four Seasons Centerin Toronto between August 18th and28th, where the extraordinarymusical “Come Fly Away” combineslegendary Sinatra voice with TwylaTharp’s choreography. 15 talenteddancers tell a vivid story of comedyromance, as modern technologytakes you back more than twodecades to Sinatra’s liveperformance, and high quality artconglomerates to make yoursummer evening unlike any other.

Don Vally Parkway Overpass Becomes a Park

Issue # 1 Oct/Nov 2011 harbourfrontnews.com

Harbour Front News

The Don Valley Parkway has oftenbeen cited as an eye-sore for theToronto waterfront. However there ishope for those who do not listthemselves as fans of this overpass. The municipal government began adevelopment project this past May toturn the barren area under the DonValley overpass into a park. FinanceMinister Joe Flaherty says it will increate opportunities for business byfurther raising the value of thesurrounding properties.

The park is designed by PhillipsFarevaag Smallenberg and thePlanning Partnership, and it willextend for 2.5 acres in the area of theRichmond, Eastern Avenue andAdelaide overpasses. One of the goalsof the park is to return some greeneryto the rather urban area. Fifty-Four

new trees will be planted under theparkway, and public art from the PaulRaff Studio will be displayed as well. The beautifying of the space combinedwith local artwork will hopefully bringa sense of community to the area andmake people navigating the area morecomfortable.

The project is supposed to becompleted in two phases. Phase one isthe section east of St. LawrenceStreet; the budget of phase one is justover 4.5 million dollars, most of whichis supplied by the federal government. This part expected to be completed bythe end of the year. Phase two, west ofSt. Lawrence Street, will be built in thefuture. The target for completion ofthe whole project is set for before thePan Am games in Toronto in 2015.

MOVIES:The Rum Diary, Dolphin Tale, What’s Your Number

The Rum Diary

When Johnny Depp decided to starin ‘Fear and Loathing is Las Vegas’,he lived and breathed Hunter S.Thompson for months, barelyleaving the side of the iconicjournalist. Perhaps not have beenthe healthiest experience of his life,it was probably one of the greatest.I enjoyed this movie, but I don’tthink the script allowed Johnny tofully embrace his inner Hunter. Irespect that Paul Kemp was justThompson’s ‘alter ego’, but there isno need to take that much Hunterout of any of his personalities.Drowning in rum, politics, cause, and internal conflict is far tooaccurate to throw away theconsequential swagger, staggerand genius insanity. It’s worthchecking out, but don’t expect tofind the fear and loathing you knowand love.

Dolphin Tale

Every second, countless innocentcreatures are lost to the greed, selfishness, carelessness andstupidity of humans. A very specialdolphin made it possible for thededicated staff and volunteers atClearwater Marine Aquarium.Winter lost her tail in a fishing netin this movie based on a true story. With the help of two very youngvolunteers, the staff nursed herback to health, only to discoverthat, Winter needed her tail tosurvive at all. With the aide of a

gifted and generous prostheticspecialist, Winter and her “tail”become a symbol of hope foramputees of all ages. It was and isa beautiful and touching reminderthat losing a part of the body makesone unique and special, notdisabled. Finally, people may beenlightened, reminded to cherishnature and animals, rather thantake them for granted. If we givethem the chance, animals canchange our lives for the better. Thefew who dedicate their lives torepairing even a fraction of thedamage we cause deserve ourrespect, support, and admiration.

Final Note- This movie was in 3-D,which was great for about 15

minutes of ocean footage. If I haveto wear obnoxious glasses over myown, make it worth my while!

What’s Your NumberThis was a typical chick-flick, thatquickly became predictable, but ithad its moments. Both of the maincharacters, Anna Faris and ChrisEvans, were charming and oftenquite funny. It was nice to see themisguided past get ignored in thename of true love. Anna Faris hasbeen growing on me over the years. She has certainly mastered goofy, ditzy, and clutzy, but I have to giveher more credit than that. I wouldreally like to see another side ofher- I think she would be quite goodat it.

Letter to the Editor

In this edition of the paper we havetwo different neighborhoods with thesame underlying issues ofaccountability - the very thing thatmade so many Torontonians vote forRob Ford. I can’t say I am a big fan ofour current mayor, but any mayor weelect has his or her work cut out forthem. The city has to be accountablefor the money they spend, right? Sowhen they fund a community project, they need to explain why, and showthe taxpayers where the moneyactually went. The management atRiverdale Farm and Dufferin Parkhave been reluctant to hand overtheir books, and with little or nothingto physically prove that governmentfunding has gone towards it’sintended purpose, this creates anawkward situation. Shutting downRiverdale farm or any other valuedcommunity area isn’t the answer, though. New management is. Thereare projects that have overseersbeing vague about their spending andthese people should be replaced withothers who are willing to use taxmoney wisely and beneficially, and, especially, willing to prove that theyare doing so. March all you want toevict Rob Ford, but there are manyother leaders who are worthy ofeviction.

Imagine being a hero. Imagine aworld, where magic and normalityexist in equivalence. Imagineundertaking a challenging questto seek the delicate balancebetween tradition andmodernity. Imagine exploring theexotic Indian heritage in merely90 minutes... Let thoseimaginations soar. Then, whenthe special days betweenOctober 26th and November 6th,2011 arrive, we need not imagineanymore, because these visionswill come alive, in the SonyCentre for the Performing Arts, inthe form of one breath-takingmusical – Bharati. Through

exotic Indian dances, liveBollywood-style music, authenticinstruments (Sarangi, Sitar,Bansuri, etc.), Indian fashion, andIndian folk traditions, Bharatifeatures a spectacular story oflove and wonder through 14remarkable pieces of songs anddances. The musical adopts theSanskrit theatrical and narrativetradition, in which the Sutradhar,or narrator, guides the audiencesthrough the homecoming tale ofSiddharth. An India born boyraised in the United States,Siddharth must return to India forwork. Despite much cynicismtowards India, Siddharthbecomes attracted to Bharati, whom he considers “mysteriousand elusive”. Through Bharati,

Siddharth delves into the wonderof India. Meanwhile, hisadventurous journey outwardreflects a more adventurous innerjourney of self-discovery, ofseeking his roots, and ultimatelyhis essence of being. Undergoinginner transformation, Siddharthgains more comprehension of hiscomplicated self-identity, as wellas the meaning oflove. Whereas various Easternstory-telling methods, such asSanskrit theatrical and narrativetradition, as well as anecdotes, are incorporated into the musical,Bharati the love story is indeednothing conventional. Brilliantlycombining India’s popular culturewith its rich heritage in the formof its people, lifestyle, linguistic, history, and philosophy, themusical reflects the collaborativeeffort of 70 talented performers, including dancers, actors, singers, musicians, andacrobats. In fact, the passionfrom the performers towards themusical and towards the Indianculture is evident uponinterviewing Rahul Vohra, thenarrator of Bharati, and BhavnaPani, the leading actressperforming the role ofBharati. Fluent in French,English, Hindi, and Punjabi, Rahulacts at the international level, and is well known for films like“Monsoon Wedding” and“Swades”. Acquired a StateDoctorate degree in InternationalCultural Management atFIC/UNESCO, Rahul opened hiscompany APOSTROPHE 99 in1999, and has since then directedvarious productions andi n t e r n a t i o n a lfestivals. Graduated from OdissiClassical dance school, Bhavna isa professional dancer, model, andactor. In 2001, Bhavna won theAll India Dance Competition, andis famous for her roles in filmslike “Dil Vil Pyar Vyar”,“Yuvaraja”, etc. Despite thesubstantial effort dedicated to“Bharati”, both performersrevealed much excitement and

honour to take part in themusical. They also expressedtheir hope to communicatethrough Bharati not only thediverse culture of India, but alsothe embracement of differentcultures worldwide byeveryone. Autumn: a goldenseason of harvest to the poetic; apoetic season of fallen leaves tothe sentimental; a sentimentalseason of love to theromantic. Yet this autumn is notjust another harvest, anotherfallen leaf, another love story. Itis a magical season forimaginations to come truebetween October 26th toNovember 6th, 2011, as one visitsthe Sony Centre for thePerforming Arts in Toronto, andexperiences the sensationalmusical - “Bharati”. It is thenone shall realize, Bharati doesnot merely put on show the spiritof India, but has the very spirit ofIndia deeply entrenched. It isthen one shall recognize, Bharatiis not just a musical reflectingIndian culture, but a call for us allto treasure our own cultural rootsthat’s essential to the veryexistence and sustainment ofcultural diversity today.

New Restaurant on St. Clair: Much MeThe thoughtfully vintage-style decor wasalmost painfully perfect in it’s detail. MuchMe Restaurant opened up on St. Clair Ave inthe fall of this year. Not all restaurants canbe considered news-worthy, but this onewas, with it’s great prices, generousportions, friendly staff and quality food. With my Cameron’s beer, I opted for the goodold steak and potatoes. The steak wascooked exactly to my preference, and theveggies weren’t undercooked, which seemsto be the style these days. The garlic-butterpotatoes were rich and creamy. My diningexperience was enjoyable to say the leastand I hope to return soon. The ownerenthusiastically informed me about hisfuture plans of upcoming entertainment likedisc-jockeys and live bands, which we canall look forward to.

Toronto establishing The ElizabethHarris Outstanding Volunteer Awardhas left many people with a badtaste in their mouths. It seems tome that, with so many questionsabout Friends of Riverdale Farmneeding to be answered, at the veryleast, a public audit of their booksshould be undertaken, if only toclear the air. If “not-for-profit” is tomean anything more than spendingevery penny before tax time, don'tthe people of Toronto deserve tohave such organizations heldaccountable? Don't we have theright to know where the money wasspent? Brunchworks Café

The idea for Brunchworks Café wasthought up by two highschoolsweethearts. The entrepreneurialduo wanted to translate their love ofhome-style comfort and fresh foodinto an exciting new restaurantconcept – a friendly neighbourhoodeatery where people were treatedlike guests, not customers. A placewhere the food was healthy andfresh, wholesome and delicious. This unique concept, the first of itskind on St. Clair Ave. paired with arising desire for fresh, homemadefood served up in a friendly andrelaxing environment, proved to be awinning combination.
