“We seem to have a compulsion these days to bury time capsules in order to give those people living in the next century or so some idea of what we are like. I have prepared one of my own. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder, and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.”Alfred Hitchcock
Why did the Aztec Empire fall so quickly? How did 600 hundred
Spaniards defeat thousands of Aztec warriors? The fall of the Aztec
Empire is a well-documented and highly debated historical event. This
Empire was known for their mighty warriors that were able to maintain
throughout Mexico for hundreds of years. Thus, any academic would find
it perplexing to accept the Spanish conquistadors, Cortez, abomination
of such an awesome Empire. Thus religion is a factor that can begin
to explain how a rapid take over of the Aztec Empire occurred. I will
compare and contrast differing historical perspectives of the fall of the
Aztec Empire with regards to religion, in particular the role of the Creator
God Quetzalcoatl.
Through the explanation of
the religious aspect of the
Aztec people one can begin to
understand the victorious position
Cortezs fleet was destine to. One
must remember the life history
of each historian’s theory of the
Aztec Empire. At what historic
time and what birth country each
carry with them as they try to
understand a civilization that
is so foreign to so many. Many
historians perceived this ritual as
barbaric and this might have lead
to either overt or covert biases
in the analysis of this historical
event.
I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.Ralph Nader
