March 2008 18 The consumers at large have nowadays become more and more familiar with the amazing efficacy of Lingzhi, which is hence gaining greater and greater popularity than ever. Through the sharing of many who have become the living testimonies, such that the health-giving benefits of Lingzhi can be further propagated via word of mouth, we can envisage even more people embracing physical well-being and enjoying a truly fulfilling life. Yung Kien Ganoderma is a Lingzhi product of supreme quality that has earned the honour of being awarded with 2 coveted health food accreditations. Ever since its introduction into the market, it has helped countless people regain optimal health. Through this issue of Shuang Hor Bimonthly Magazine, we present the special interview that we had with 2 individuals who have benefited from the amazing efficacies of Yung Kien Ganoderma and other equally marvellous products. One of them suffered from a condition called aplastic anaemia, the other was a patient of cirrhosis of the liver and hepatitis C. Let us listen to them telling us how they were eventually given a clean bill of health following their consumption of Yung Kien Ganoderma. Health Problem: Aplastic Anaemia They Have Regained Health through Lingzhi Name: Chow Sin Heng Age: 42 years Towards the end of 2002, I began experiencing frequent gum bleeding with the appearance of bruising patches in many parts of my body, subcutaneous haemorrhage (petechial rash) in both legs, and intense fatigue. As persistent, abnormally high body temperature was also among the primary symptoms, dengue hemorrhagic fever became the initial suspicion of my condition. Subsequently, I underwent a blood test. The results showed that the levels of my haemoglobin concentration, blood platelet count, and white blood cell count were 6.5g/dL, 9 x 10 9 /L, and 1.9 x 10 9 /L respectively, which were simply too low to indicate that it was dengue. After several rounds more of follow-up tests, I was eventually diagnosed as suffering from aplastic anaemia, an autoimmune disorder characterized by dangerously low levels of haemoglobin concentration (anaemia), blood platelet count (thrombocytopenia), and white blood cell count (leucopoenia). In the absence of a timely and proper treatment, a patient of this rare disease would normally not survive beyond 1 or 2 years from its first onset, with the mortality rate as high as 80%. Currently, the supportive and definitive treatment approaches adopted by the medical fraternity include blood transfusion, steroid injection, and blood serum transfusion, other than bone marrow transplant. Since I had otherwise been perfectly healthy in the past, the confirmation of the diagnosis was as good as the pronouncement of a death sentence on me! As a consequence, I was given a series of medical treatments, which carried a 1 ½ year course of steroid injections and blood serum (anti-thymocyte globulin, or ATG in short) transfusion. All in all, with the hospitalization expenses included, the total medical bill was well over RM100,000. Besides, based on the physician’s instruction, I had to take certain prescription drugs, which were aimed at preventing graft rejection, continuously for 2 years. When the levels of my haemoglobin concentration, blood platelet count, and white blood cell count showed signs of elevation, I started to count my blessing that I was already on the way to recuperating from the life-threatening disease. But it was not to be. In April 2004, I suddenly suffered a relapse, with the levels of my haemoglobin concentration, blood platelet count, and white blood cell count dropped to 6.8g/dL, 11 x 10 9 /L, and 2.5 x 10 9 /L respectively (the levels for a healthy person should be in the ranges of 13~18g/dL, 150~400 x 10 9 /L, and 4~11 x 10 9 /L respectively). The physician proposed that I take another course of the ATG treatment. However, I instantly rejected the proposal, as the massive medical bill of another RM100,000 or so would be too much for me to bear. It was around this time that I began to consume various blood-supplementing concoctions, including some expensive health supplements imported from the US. These, too, cost me a bomb, but did not contribute much to improving my condition. Before giving Lingzhi a try, my wife and I were vehemently against it, as we had previously heard the rumours that the consumption of Lingzhi could lead to premature death. Nevertheless, as sceptical and reluctant as I was, since I had practically exhausted all options available, I eventually started consuming Yung Kien Ganoderma as last resort. Due to my lingering doubt on its safe consumption, I took only 1 capsule of Yung Kien Ganoderma in addition to 2 capsules of Yung Kien Pollen twice a day. After continuing with this for more than a month, I discovered that the levels of my haemoglobin concentration, blood platelet count, and white blood cell count had stopped to drop further. With the last drop of uncertainty now eliminated, I increased the amounts of my daily consumption to 12 capsules of Ganoderma and 24 capsules of Pollen (split over 3 times a day). This time around, the level of my white blood cell count returned to normal. The physician subsequently reduced my dosage of steroid and other drugs into half. With my confidence in the products significantly boosted, I further upgraded the consumption to 16 capsules of Ganoderma and 30 capsules of Pollen on a daily basis. On top of that, I had also been taking 2 packets of Jia Hor Instant Soya Protein Powder every morning, in addition to 2 tea bags of Gynostemma Herbal Tea as my daily beverage. Many friends of mine commented that my formerly pale face had turned rosy. Even the physician was astonished at the marked improvement of my condition, of which a radical cure was considered to be inherently difficult to achieve. What’s more, the side effects of taking steroid, including moon face and swollen legs, had also vanished. All these had indicated that the products actually worked as far as my condition was concerned.

Towards the end of 2002, I began experiencing frequent gum bleeding with the appearance of bruising patches in many parts of my body, subcutaneous haemorrhage (petechial rash) in both legs, and intense fatigue. As persistent, abnormally high body temperature was also among the primary symptoms, dengue hemorrhagic fever became the initial suspicion of my condition. Subsequently, I underwent a blood test. The results showed that the levels of my haemoglobin concentration, blood platelet count, and white blood cell count were 6.5g/dL, 9 x 109/L, and 1.9 x 109/L respectively, which were simply too low to indicate that it was dengue. Age: 37 years

In an effort to facilitate my progressive recovery, I made the consumption of the products as my daily regimen, apart from maintaining normal hours between everyday activities and sleep, observing a bland diet, and insisting on having a round of jogging every morning. By September 2006, my daily consumption of Ganoderma and Pollen was increased to 20 capsules and 30 capsules (split into 2 times a day) respectively. After continuing with this for almost a year, the level of my haemoglobin concentration also restored to normal. In response to this, the physician replaced his prescription of potent drugs with those of pharmacologically milder ones. With full confidence, I increased the daily consumption to 30 capsules of Ganoderma and 60 capsules of Pollen (split over 3 times a day). In November 2007, when I underwent another medical check-up, the results showed that the levels of my haemoglobin concentration, blood platelet count, and white blood cell count had elevated to 13.1g/dL, 73 x 109/L, and 4.2 x 109/L respectively. By the time I revisited the clinic for a blood test, I found out to my pleasant surprise that the levels of my haemoglobin concentration, blood platelet count, and white blood cell count had further improved to 13g/dL, 75 x 109/L, and 4.7 x 109/L respectively. The physician said that these figures were not only better than those recorded following my ATG treatment (11.4g/dL, 28 x 109/L, and 3.7 x 109/L respectively), but have even set an all-new record!

Health Problem: Cirrhosis of the Liver and Hepatitis CIn 1999, I was hospitalized and underwent a thorough medical check-up when the bleeding in my gums did not seem

to stop following the extraction of a tooth. A subsequent scanning revealed that there was a stretch of scar tissue as big as about the span of 4 fingers in my liver. Though the doctor suggested that it be surgically removed, he also cautioned that the success rate was less than 35%. An alternative was medication, which could put my condition under control for 5 to 10 years. Prior to this diagnosis, I had already been suffering from severe constipation. My bowel movements were so sluggish that I could only defecate once every 1 week or even 2, my stomach was always bloated, pimples cropped up all over my face, and tiredness would set in anytime of the day. I initially attributed this to my heavy workload. Little did I know that serious cirrhosis of the liver was the underlying cause. After the commencement of the medication, I had to visit the hospital every month for check-ups. A blood test showed that the scar tissue did not spread further, indicating that the condition of my cirrhosis was already under control. More so, I was no longer as vulnerable to feeling tired. By that time, as the cost of the regular re-examinations had already burnt a hole in my pocket, I decided to discontinue with the treatment, citing full discovery of my condition as an excuse.

One day in July 2002, I was horrified by my unexpected onset of incontinence. After undergoing a thorough medical check-up, I discovered that my kidneys had begun to experience dysfunction, or functional failure. Other than frequent fatigue, I also had to endure the torture of involuntarily vomiting some yellowish, bitter gastric juice every morning. From July 2003 onwards, apart from taking some prescription drugs, I also started to consume Yung Kien Ganoderma and Yung Kien Pollen. At the initial stage, my consumption was made up of 12 capsules of Ganoderma and 30 capsules of Pollen as well as 6 packets each of Jia Hor Hi-Fibre and Jia Hor Instant Soya Protein Powder, in addition to 2 bags each of Lu Chun Lingzhi Tea and Jia Hor Gynostemma Herbal Tea, with the consumption split into 2 times a day. After continuing with it for 3 months, my conditions of incontinence and involuntary vomiting were miraculously cured. I was elated at having bidden goodbye to those unbecoming adult pampers and the everyday inconvenience that they brought, believing that I had already fully recuperated. As such, I reduced my daily consumption of the products to 4 capsules of Ganoderma and 10 capsules of Pollen, 2 packets each of Hi-Fibre and Protein Powder, and 1 bag each of the teas.

However, the good time did not last long. One day in August 2005, I suddenly had a serious onset of gum bleeding.

Realizing the condition was real bad, I returned to the Elisabeth Hospital in Singapore for a medical check-up without undue delay. A subsequent scanning showed that there was a 3cm tumour growth in my liver. Besides, I was also diagnosed to be a carrier of the 4th type of hepatitis C virus (there are 5 types of hepatitis C virus hitherto known), my blood platelet count was abnormally low, and my immune system had weakened to a worrying state. As an immediate response, I increased my daily consumption of the products to 30 capsules of Ganoderma and 75 capsules of Pollen, 6 packets each of Hi-Fibre and Protein Powder taken with the teas (split into 2 times a day). For this time, the vertigo reactions were very intense: headache, dizziness, bloated stomach, and the secretion of yellowish, smelly pus from my navel. Besides, I would throw out whatever oily foods that I took, awful ulcers erupted in my mouth, painful and itchy pustules started to crop up everywhere on my body, especially under the armpits, the vomiting of lumps of phlegm every morning, and heavy discharge flowing out of my private parts, rendering my daily life somewhat miserable. Nevertheless, my confidence in the products was not affected, and I continued with my daily consumption without fail in spite of having to come to terms with those vertigo reactions lasting for 7 long months. During a regular medical check-up in March 2007, it was discovered that the cirrhosis of the liver had stopped. Even more miraculously, the 3cm tumour was nowhere to be found! However, the colony of hepatitis C virus stil l stubbornly stayed and was very much alive, though my blood platelet index had restored to the normal level of 9,300.

Tremendously thril led by this result, I continued with the daily consumption, adjusting it to 20 capsules of Ganoderma and 50 capsules of Pollen, and 4 packets each of Hi-Fibre and Protein Powder, in addition to 2 sachets of VitaKing as my health-care regimen. By the time I had another medical check-up on 13th December 2007, not even a single trace of hepatitis C virus was found in my body. To the amazement of the doctor, my body was already capable of producing antibodies and my immunity index had restored to the 5.4 mark, making my case an extremely rare one in medical records. Today, I have enjoyed full recovery. While Yung Kien Ganoderma has not only saved me from health disaster if not the brink of death, my friends and associates are giving me the thumbs up, saying that I now look pretty much younger and more attractive than before!
