Forum 2018 W E L C O M E

Dear Alternative Investment Professionals,

Thank you for being a part of our 1st annual Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain & Cryp-tocurrency Forum. Today’s digital economy offers a unique opportunity to asset managers, investors and service providers in the alternative investment world. The FLAIA team is excited to bring together some of the world’s most influential thought leaders in the space to discuss the ABC's of this new digital economy.

Artificial Intelligence has been embraced by companies such as Amazon and Google to track online customer behavior and drive advertising campaigns. In financial mar-kets, companies are using AI to drive their investment strategies. Asset managers have been quick to adopt AI to help create alpha through security selection, position sizing and sentiment analysis.

Blockchain technology is disrupting the traditional banking model and revolutionizing the way in which businesses and people exchange currency for goods and services. The decentralized nature of blockchain is difficult to regulate, however, governments are already embracing monetized digital tokens to raise funds for community proj-ects. One example we recently saw is the City of Berkeley, California applying block-chain technology to public finance in order to fund the purchase of a fire truck, making it cheaper and easier for local residents to invest.

Cryptocurrency has the potential to completely disrupt the foundation that the global economy is built on, fiat currency. Governments are closely monitoring how citizens embrace these new store houses of value. Bitcoin and other tokens are changing the dynamics of international trade, foreign relations, diplomacy, and the impact of economic sanctions. The explosion of initial coin offerings and token issuances over the last 18 months indicates that crypto has emerged as a new legitimate asset class.

The digital economy in Florida is thriving and many are saying that Miami has become the Cryptocurrency capital of the U.S. and possibly the world. It was hard to imagine that such a feat was possible just 12 months ago.

Thank you for your continued support of the Florida Alternative Investment Associa-tion. We are glad that each of you were able to take part in our first event in this new and exciting space.

Sincerely,

Michael Corcelli and Brian ValeroChairman and Executive Director Florida Alternative Investment Association
