BLIND PEOPLE CAN SEE THROUGH TONGUE
USING BRAIN PORT DEVICE
INTRODUCTION
BRAINPORT DEVICE
The device which sends visual input through tongue to the brain much the similar like the eyes sends the visual input to the brain is called the “BrainPort Device”
A BRAINPORT DEVICE CONSIST OF,
• Camera,• a small central
processing unit (CPU)
• a lollypop like device(contains array of electrodes)
HUMAN VISION METHODOLOGY:
HOW DOES THE BRAINPORT DEVICE WORK ?
WHY TONGUE IS USED IN BRAINPORT TECHNOLOGY ?
• Most sensitive-having more nerve fibres
• No stratum corneum(dead cells)
• Requires less voltage to stimulate nerve fibers in the tongue
• Saliva acts as electrolite maintain the current flow between the electrode and skin tissues.

ADVANTAGES
• The size of device is small
• The device can be switched on and off whenever needed
• User can vary the voltage limit so he can set the range which is comfortable to him
BENEFITS
PRIMARY ADVANTAGES• Blind users can use independently
SECONDARY ADVANTAGES• applying the technology toward specific
hobbies and recreational situations
SAFETY
• Navigating difficult environments, such as parking lots, traffic circles, complex intersections
• Recognizing quiet moving objects like hybrid cars or bicycle
MOBILITY
• Finding doorways, hall intersections, lobby or restaurant in an office or hotel.
• Finding continuous sidewalks, sidewalk intersections and curbs.
• Finding where the vehicles is coming while crossing the road
provide expanded information for military pilots
robotic surgery., by using Electrotactile gloves
Race car driving using electrotactile feedback gloves
APPLICATIONS
CONCLUSION
• In the case of the BrainPort Vision Device the electronics might be completely embedded in a pair of glasses along with a tiny camera and radio transmitter, and the mouthpiece would house a radio receiver to receive encoded signals from the glasses.
• In 2-3 years we might be seeing a camera with the size of a grain of rice embedded in people's foreheads
• the BrainPort will a boon for the visually challenged persons
