Term 4 Week 10
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
We have reached the end of another great year at Bletchley Park Primary School. The
Christmas Concert, Presentation Evening and the Year 6 graduation, has highlighted the
last couple of weeks. Congratulations to all of the staff and students involved the very
successful and well-run events.
This year has seen many highlights and achievements that I mentioned on the
Presentation Evening. Here are just a few of them.
Numerous incursions and excursions including; first aid, visits to the zoo, RAC visit,
RSPCA visit, Constable Care, and History and Science excursions. Book Week, the
Book Fair and Science Week.
Two weeks of swimming, summer and winter carnivals. We won the Interschool cross-
country carnival for the first time and won the Interschool Athletic Carnival for the
third year running.
Bletchley Cup for special need children and this carnival now attracts schools from
across the south metropolitan area and was featured on Today Tonight.
In Health we have been awarded the prestigious silver rating from the SDERA.
In the Arts our students have been involved in dance and music with our Choir
performing in the Massed Choir and we have revamped our school song.
In ICT students have been learning amazing things in coding to use the Bee Bots and
Dash and Dot.
School Development and Learning Expo. Mother’s and Father’s day stalls, Ride to
school day, Day for Daniel and the Family Picnic.
The Astronomy night was attended by over 200 people and we got to see the moon up
close and the rings of Saturn.
Year 6 Camp to Kalgoorlie.
Staff have embedded programs including ‘Talk for Writing’ and ‘Guided Reading’ and
have had professional learning from the maths expert Paul Swan.
We have achieved our best NAPLAN results to date.
The P&C have provided great financial support to the school and organised and ran the
School Disco, attended by over 650 students.
On a sad note we farewell a number of staff that have made a significant contribution to
our school this year and longer. Sue Garland, Claire Smith, Cameron Payne, Alvin Leo,
Connie Southerland, Leah Keens, Dishna Jayawickrama, Ryan McKey, Joel Lloyd, Jen
Bamford, Candy How Tow, Lorraine Fitzgerald are all moving on in 2019. We wish
everyone all the best.
On a personal note I would like to farewell the Bletchley Park community. It has been a
privilege to have worked here this term. The school has a fantastic team of teachers and
leaders who do an amazing job of supporting students. I wish everyone a happy and safe
break and successful 2019.

P&C News
As your 2018 P & C President, it is has been an honour to be part of P&C committee. The P&C have a very important role to play within the school community, including the ability to assist in providing an environment that is conducive to learning and interaction. Through fundraising activities that have involved many of you fantastic parents, guardians, grandparents & carer’s, the P & C have been able to provide educational equipment for the teachers and provide play areas for the children that are environmentally friendly and meet our children’s physical needs. This year Paula Kontor and her team have gone above and beyond in providing an outstanding display of fathers and mother’s day gifts, organising the school disco, running raffles and of course the popular PJ and crazy hair days. Paula on behalf of the school, the P & C Committee and myself, I would like to sincerely thank you and your team for all your hard work and the dedication you put into the raising of funds for our school. A long term project that commenced in early 2018 will be completed for the 2019 school year. Through the success of an armistice grant applied for by Renae Ritchie and with funds provided by the P & C an amnesty garden will be unveiled. To my fellow executive and committee members, I thank you all for your continued support in 2018 and we hope to see you and any new members wishing to join in 2019. I wish the leavers of 2018 all the best for your future education as you transition into high school, and we look forward to seeing the returning students back in 2019. Please have a safe and merry Christmas. Darren Warwick BPPS P&C President
2019 P&C AGM The Annual General Meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday, 11 February 2019 and it would be fantastic to see many new parents join us and make a difference to our school. For more information, please contact Darren Warwick on 0433 546 051 or [email protected]

The students received their kindly donated and prepared with love from our very own school canteen manager Robyn, fruit slushies as a part of their reward with their certificates of participation for a wonderful hard working term.
I also would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all students involved this year in the Year 3, 4, 5 and Year 6 Fitness Club, Mr McNerney for his assistance with the program and our school canteen for always supporting our students and encouraging them to find new ways to enjoy healthy foods.
