Canine Muttrimony Fun Continues

It has been nine years since the first Canine Muttrimony event was held featuring Tyler James Anderson as the dashing groom and Bella Mya Edwards as the beautiful bride posing for their wedding picture.

There is still time to join this craziness. Find a willing mate for your canine buddy and join us for this crazy event. This event like all other Bark Park events is open to the public.

Engagement Announcement

Patsy Kline and Elvis Presley were engaged August 18th, 2019

Patsy is 9 months old is from the Erie,Pa area. Patsy moved 7 months ago to Linesville to be with her Mom, Darlene and Grandpap Paul.

Elvis who is10 has lived in Conneaut Lake, Pa all his life. Elvis spends most of his time with Mom at Ruthy's Nails in Conneaut Lake.

Both our Moms have know one another for 40 years and have arranged this ceremony. It will be September 28, 2019 at Conneaut Lake Bark Park.

Tim Kaider Remembered

For those pet owners that loved the Canine Muttrimony, you will certainly remember the comments and total silliness added to every ceremony by Tim Kaider, who served as Mayor of Conneaut Lake and officiated many of our Canine Muttrimony events. Tim passed away in January of this year. We will remember Tim as one of a kind as he shared his great sense of humor at the Canine Muttrimony ceremonies.

Tyler looked darling in his tuxedo and top hat and Bella in a white wedding dress as they posed

for their wedding picture

Please Take Me to Day Stay

Hey Dog Owners in Conneaut Lake, Hartstown, Jamestown, Espyville, Harmonsburg, Andover, and every other doggie home in parts of western Crawford County, all of Crawford County and even Mercer County.

Don’t leave me home alone all day when you can drop me off with Shelly at the Dog House at Conneaut Lake Bark Park on your way to work or an important appointment. I will receive a day filled with lots of TLC, a minimum of 2 walks, playtime with a staff member, a clean, air conditioned or radiant heated building, music to calm my doggie thoughts, and so much more. You can also make arrangements for a bath when I am there.

The cost for Day Stay is so reasonable. Beginning in September, the cost for one full day is $20.00, or 5 visits for $90.00. Half day rates are also available.

So, give it a try. I know I will like it and you won’t have to worry about me all alone getting into trouble because I am so bored when no one else is home with me.

Call Shelly today and let the fun begin this fall at Conneaut Lake Day Stay, open daily and weekends. 8:00 am– 5:00 pm.

Algae Blooms

As a precaution and to increase our understanding of Algae Blooms, we did attend a workshop in Erie at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center on Saturday, August 24th. Below is a summary of some basic information.

Algae are tiny organisms that are found in water. Most types are beneficial, however when conditions are favorable (such as increase in water temperature and nutrient) algae can produce algae blooms, or large dense growth of algae.

Algae blooms usually occur during the summer and fall, however can bloom anytime during the year. When a bloom occurs, scum might form on the water’s surface that resemble spilled paint. They are often green or blue green, however they may also be brown, white, purple, or red. As the bloom dies off you might smell an odor similar to rotting plants.

Swallowing water can cause serious illness. Dogs have the more severe symptoms including collapse and sudden death after swallowing contaminated water while swimming or after licking the bacteria from their fur. Symptoms include staggering, difficulty breathing, weakness, salivation, vomiting and convulsions. There are no known antidotes to these toxins.

If you suspect harmful algae blooms at any ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, or reservoirs where you frequently go,

1. Stay out of the water2. After swimming/ wading in water, even with no visible harmful algae

blooms, rinse off with fresh water and soap as soon as possible.3. Never swallow water that may contain the algae toxin4. Do not let pets lick or eat material from their fur.5. Contact your veterinarian immediately

Finally, when in doubt, STAY OUT and contact the appropriate agency.

We have seen absolutely no sign of algae blooms in our dock diving pond. The Bark Park will continue to monitor the conditions at the dock diving pond on a regular basis and will take the necessary precautions if and when algae blooms might appear.
