My dear parishioners, Are you ready? Lent is early this year and Ash Wednesday is this week, February 10. Lent is that beautiful time of the year when we enter into the desert to walk with Jesus. It is a time of penance, sacrifice and spiritual growth. Around this time, the question asked by many is “What are you doing for Lent?” Many will respond by saying they are going to fast from chocolate, other sweets, alcohol or other items that we enjoy. Some people will attend daily Mass or try to make it to Mass a few times a week. Others will pray the Stations of the Cross or look for another spiritual exercise. Some people will make a choice to try to do better in their daily prayer or work on improving their relationship with God. Another idea is to do more service to the community such as visiting the homebound, working in a food pantry or soup kitchen or volunteering at another place to serve those in need. One could fast from going to the movies or out to dinner and donate that money to a worth-while cause. In addition to these suggestions, there are many online tools to help one have a beautiful Lent. Mis queridos feligreses, ¿Están listos? Este año la Cuaresma llega tem-

prano y el Miércoles de Ceniza es esta semana el 10 de febrero. La Cuaresma es un tiempo hermoso del año porque entramos en el desierto para caminar con Jesús. Es tiempo de penitencia, sacrificio y crecimiento espi-ritual. En este tiempo, la pregunta que muchos se hacen es “¿que van a hacer para la Cuaresma?” Muchos responderán que ayunaran el chocolate, otras golosinas, alcohol u otras cosas que disfrutamos. Algunas personas asistirán a Misa diaria o tratarán de ir a Misa unas cuantas veces a la semana. Otros rezarán el Viacrucis o buscarán otro ejercicio espiri-tual. Algunas personas tratarán de mejorar en su oración diaria o trabajo y mejorar su relación con Dios. Otra idea sería hacer más servicio a la comuni-dad como visitar a alguien que no puede salir de su casa, trabajar en la despensa, darle comida a los pobres o ser voluntario en otro lugar para servir a los necesi-tados. Uno puede dejar de ir al cine o salir a comer y donar el dinero a una causa que valga la pena. A parte de estas sugerencias, hay más sugeren-cias en la red para ayudarlo a tener una Cuaresma bonita. Youth Super Bowl Party Today, Sunday, February 7th at 6 pm, our parish will be hosting a Super Bowl Party for all the youth of our parish, 8th grade through 12th grade. The party will take place in the parish room where we have the three large screen TVs. We will have wings, snacks, drinks, etc. We ask for a small $5 donation to help cover the costs. The party will end when the game is finished. Come out and cheer on the Broncos or the Panthers.

Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.

FASTING – All the faithful between the ages of 18 and 59 inclusive are bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

This practice involves limiting oneself to a single full meal and avoiding food between meals. Light sustenance may

also be taken on two other occasions during the day.

¡Muchas Gracias! Tuvimos una celebración fenomenal el martes pasado para la Presentación del Señor, también conocido como el Día de la

Candelaria. Asistieron muchas personas como más de quinientas personas que lo hicieron una celebración alegre. Gracias al

comité conformado por diferentes grupos de la parroquia que hicieron todo el trabajo para organizar la celebración. Gracias a

todos los que donaron comida y bebida. Gracias a los que ayudaron arreglar y limpiar. Gracias a ustedes por su fe en

Jesucristo.
