My dear parishioners, These past few weeks we have had several great spiritual moments for our parish. Sixty-eight young men and women received the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 10, another seventy-eight children received their First Holy Communion on May 19. Over forty adults made the consecration to Jesus through Mary on our parish feast day, May 24th, at a beautiful Mass that was attended by over two hundred people. Over thirty teens and adults made the hiking retreat this past Memorial Day. This past Tuesday, we had our first set of Warriors of the King (seven) make purity promises and another thirteen young ladies made the promises as well as Daughters of the King, as well as eleven who renewed their promises. It is for moments like this that I am most joyful as a priest. To see people open their hearts to Je-sus, to let His love in, is why I am a priest. As pastor, I have many responsibilities, many of which are temporal, but it is leading people to Christ is what fills my heart with joy. I did not become a priest just to manage employ-ees, pay bills and work with contractors. These areas are part of my responsibilities, but I was ordained to lead people to heaven. This past month was a wonderful op-portunity to see the Lord in action with so many people. I, in particular, enjoyed leading the group of women on Tuesday nights in preparation for the Marian consecra-tion. Over six sessions, I saw them grow in their love for Mary and for Jesus. It was a time of faith and inspiration. In their openness and struggles, they also helped my own faith. It is my hope that we continue to have other opportunities like this one to come together and share our faith. One of the other joys was team teaching with Lauren Gentry, our youth minister, for the confirmation program. During the course of the year, many of the youth inspired me by their own faith and their desire to know more. I also saw the struggles for them coming to us after a long day of school and trying to remain fo-cused. Lauren and I are working together with some oth-er colleagues to develop an even better confirmation program. I know the pain of not having faith in the teen-age years and anything I can do to help those young people avoid that, I am willing to try. Please pray for us as we work to revamp the confirmation program into something that will inspire our young people to know and love Jesus more and to stay close to Him. God bless,

Mis queridos feligreses, En las últimas semanas hemos tenido varios gran-des momentos espirituales para nuestra parroquia. Sesenta y ocho muchachos y jovencitas recibieron el Sacramento de la Confirmación el 10 de mayo, otros setenta y ocho niños recibieron su Primera Comunión el 19 de mayo. Más de cuarenta adultos hicieron su consagración a Jesús por María en nuestra fiesta patronal el 24 de mayo en una hermosa Misa a la cual asistieron más de doscientas personas. Más de treinta adolescentes y adultos fueron al retiro de camina-ta espiritual el pasado Memorial Day. El martes pasado, tuvimos nuestro primer grupo de Guerreros del Rey (siete) haciendo sus promesas de pureza y también trece jovencitas haciendo sus promesas como Hijas del Rey, además once renovaron sus promesas. Son momentos como este que co-mo sacerdote me llenan de gozo. Ver a la gente abrir sus corazones a Jesús, permitir Su amor entrar en ellos, es por lo que soy sacerdote. Como párroco, tengo muchas responsa-bilidades, muchas de las cuales son temporales, pero es guiando a la gente a Cristo la que llena mi corazón de ale-gría. No me convertí en sacerdote solamente para admi-nistrar a empleados, pagar cuentas y trabajar con contratis-tas. Estas áreas son parte de mis responsabilidades, pero yo fui ordenado para guiar a la gente al cielo. El pasado mes fue una hermosa oportunidad para ver al Señor en acción con mucha gente. A mí, particularmente, me dio alegría guiar el grupo de mujeres los martes en la noche en prepa-ración para la Consagración Mariana. Más de seis sesiones, yo las vi crecer en su amor por María y por Jesús. Fue un tiempo de fe y de inspiración. En su apertura y luchas, ellas además ayudaron mi propia fe. Es mi esperanza que conti-nuemos teniendo otras oportunidades como esta para jun-tarnos y compartir nuestra fe. Una de las otras alegrías fue la de enseñar en equi-po con Lauren Gentry, nuestra Ministro Juvenil, para el pro-grama de confirmación. Durante el curso del año, muchos jóvenes me inspiraron por su propia fe y su deseo de saber más. Yo también vi la lucha de ellos viniendo a nosotros después de un largo día en la escuela y tratando de estar enfocados. Lauren y yo estamos trabajando junto con otros colegas para desarrollar un programa de confirmación mu-cho mejor. Yo se el dolor de no tener fe en los años de ado-lescencia y cualquier cosa que pueda hacer para ayudar a esos jóvenes a evitar eso, yo estoy dispuesto a tratar. Por favor oren por nosotros en lo que trabajamos para rehacer el programa de confirmación en algo que inspire a nuestra gente joven a conocer y amar a Jesús más y a quedarse junto a El. CHECK WHAT’S GOING ON AROUND THE PARISH...

Corpus Christi Procession Reminder that today we have two Corpus Christi proces-sions with the Blessed Sacrament after the 10 am and 12 noon Masses. Weather permitting, we will walk around the block, if it is raining, we will do the procession in the church. All First Communion children are invited to walk before the Blessed Sacrament and throw rose petals before the Lord. Confirmation students are invited to help carry the canopy.

Congratulations! Josefina Cabrera (three years) and Patricia Rios (two years) have both just completed the Pastoral Institute that is of-fered by the Diocese of Brooklyn. They were installed by Bishop DiMarzio as lay leaders at a special Mass on May 17th. Josefina has been helping with the Spanish RCIA and will be taking charge of it this coming year. Patricia has been and will continue to be one of the leaders for the Sun-day Family Catechesis program. We are grateful for their service to the parish.

The office of religious education would like announce that registration for “Religious Education 2018 – 2019” is now open. If you would like to have a $10 discount from the regis-tration fee, and have the option to choose between sessions for your children, make sure to register your child before June 13th. After June 13th there is no discount; class availa-bility is not guaranteed even if a child was enrolled the pre-vious year; and class placement is up to the director’s discre-tion. Thank you. For the last four years, Alexa Dayoan has led our English Children’s Choir and has done a lovely job. Due to commit-ments in pursuing her master’s degree, Alexa has asked to step down as the director. We are very grateful for her hard work, dedication and love for the children. We will still see Alexa on the 1st Sunday of each month at the 10 am Mass.

Welcome Fr. Francis Fr. Francis Rosario will be the new parochial vicar as of June 1st. Fr. Francis is a priest of the Archdiocese of Calcut-ta, India whose bishop has allowed him to serve in the Dio-cese of Brooklyn. Most recently, Fr. Francis had been split-ting his time between St. Bartholomew and Queen of Angels, as well as being the reserve chaplain for Elmhurst Hospital. Fr. Francis speaks English, Hindi and Bengali and has been a priest for thirty-nine years.

Procesión de Corpus Christi Se les recuerda que hoy tendremos dos procesiones de Cor-pus Christi con el Santísimo Sacramento después de las Misas de 10 am y 12 pm. Si el tiempo lo permite, caminare-mos alrededor de la cuadra., si está lloviendo, haremos la procesión en la iglesia. Todos los niños que recibie-ron su Primera Comunión están invitados a cami-nar frente al Santísimo Sacramento y arrojar péta-los de rosas delante del Señor. Los estudiantes de Confirmación están invitados a ayudar a cargar el toldo.

¡Felicitaciones! Josefina Cabrera (tres años) y Patricia Ríos (dos años) las dos han terminado el programa del Instituto Pastoral que ofrece la Diócesis de Brooklyn. Ellas fueron instaladas por el Obispo DiMarzio como líderes laicas en una Misa especial el 17 de mayo. Josefina ha estado ayudando con RICA y será la encargada este año que viene. Patricia ha sido y continuará siendo una de las líderes del Programa de Catequesis Fami-liar los Domingos. Estamos muy agradecidos por sus servi-cios a la parroquia.

Gracias Por los últimos cuatro años, Alexa Dayoan ha guiado el Coro de Niños en inglés y ha hecho un hermoso trabajo. Debido a compromisos al seguir sus estudios de grado de Maestría, Alexa ha pedido no continuar como directora. Estamos muy agradecidos por su arduo trabajo, dedicación y amor a los niños. Todavía veremos a Alexa en el 1er domingo de cada mes en la Misa de 10 am.
