BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHEDRAL Mother Church and Parish of the Diocese of Greensburg A Pennsylvania Charitable Trust 300 North Main Street, Greensburg, Pennsylvania 15601 Epiphany of the Lord , January 3, 2021 Prayer for the Epiphany of the Lord Father of light, unchanging God, today you reveal to men of faith the resplendent fact of the Word made flesh. Your light is strong, your love is near; draw us beyond the limits which this world imposes, to the life where your Spirit makes all life complete. Amen. Temporary Changes to the Liturgy at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral for all in‐person Masses The Diocese of Greensburg issued new recommendaƟons related to the recent spike in Covid‐19 in our area. AŌer reviewing the recommendaƟons, we wanted to let you know what parƟcular steps we are taking here at the Cathedral to keep you safe. These changes are related to all in‐person Cathedral Parish Masses during this Covid‐19 spike. As first stated in the original guidelines from the Diocese when our Churches reopened in the late spring, one big concern for transfer of the virus is singing at the Liturgy. For the immediate future we will use instrumental pieces only for the opening, offertory, communion and closing hymns at Mass with only a short introducƟon to the opening and closing pieces. We will recite the Psalm Response as well. Instrumental music will be played at Sunday Masses before the Mass as well as a short postlude while people are leaving the Church building. All of the parts of the Mass will be recited including: the Holy, Holy, Holy, the Memorial AcclamaƟon, the Great Amen and The Lamb of God. As has been the case, everyone is asked to conƟnue to wear a mask (which covers both the nose and mouth) the enƟre Ɵme that they are in Church. Going forward all ministers, including the priest and the lector, will wear his or her mask for the enƟre extent of the liturgical celebraƟon. Out of an abundance of cauƟon parishioners are asked not to congregate in the Church, either before or aŌer Mass, as this oŌen creates an issue with our social distancing requirement. As stated, these changes are only temporary, and will be evaluated as we move forward together through these very difficult Ɵmes. As always, our main goal is to keep people safe and to conƟnue to be able to offer in‐person worship while respecƟng the anxiety and concerns of anyone who aƩends our beloved Cathedral for Liturgy.

  • BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHEDRAL Mother Church and Parish of the Diocese of Greensburg

A Pennsylvania Charitable Trust 300 North Main Street, Greensburg, Pennsylvania 15601

Epiphany of the Lord , January 3, 2021

Prayer for the Epiphany of the Lord

Father of light, unchanging God, today you reveal to men of faith the resplendent fact of the Word made flesh.

Your light is strong, your love is near; draw us beyond the limits which this world imposes,

to the life where your Spirit makes all life complete. Amen.

Temporary Changes to the Liturgy at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral for all in‐person Masses

The Diocese of Greensburg issued new recommenda ons related to the recent spike in Covid‐19 in our  area.  A er reviewing the recommenda ons, we wanted to let you know what  par cular steps we are taking here at the Cathedral to keep you safe.  These changes are related to all in‐person Cathedral Parish Masses during this  Covid‐19 spike.

As first stated in the original guidelines from the Diocese when our Churches reopened in the late spring, one big  concern for transfer of the virus is singing at the Liturgy.  For the immediate future we will use instrumental pieces only for the opening, offertory, communion and closing hymns at Mass with only a short introduc on to the  opening and closing  pieces.  We will recite the Psalm Response as well.  Instrumental music will be played at Sunday Masses before the Mass as well as a short postlude while people are leaving the Church building.  All of the parts of the Mass will be recited including: the Holy, Holy, Holy, the Memorial Acclama on, the Great Amen and The Lamb of God.

As has been the case, everyone is asked to con nue to wear a mask (which covers both the nose and mouth) the  en re  me that they are in Church.  Going forward all ministers, including the priest and the lector, will wear his or  her mask for the en re extent of the liturgical celebra on.

Out of an abundance of cau on parishioners are asked not to congregate in the Church, either before or a er Mass,  as this o en creates an issue with our social distancing requirement.

As stated, these changes are only temporary, and will be evaluated as we move forward together through these very difficult  mes.  As always, our main goal is to keep people safe and to con nue to be able to offer in‐person  worship while respec ng the anxiety and concerns of anyone who a ends our beloved Cathedral for Liturgy.

  • Reserve Parking Space Reminder

Given that we are receiving regular assistance from visiting clergy, we need to leave the Visiting Clergy parking sign up in the small Church parking lot so that the parking space is available whenever it is needed. We would appreciate it if you do not park in any space that has a reserve sign present.

    Cathedral Care Envelope

Every month in the regular collection envelope packets, there is a white envelope which says “Cathedral Care”. Many of you send this envelope in every month with your regular donation and it is very much appreciated. Some of you may be wondering what this Cathedral Care money is used for. Here are just a few of the things: boiler and air conditioner repairs, painting of the rectory offices, spring landscaping and tree removal, Formation Center upkeep. There are many things that need repaired in old buildings such as those on the Cathedral properties. Your generous donations to Cathedral Care allow us to take care of these needs before they become a more costly problem.

Online Giving We are inviting other parishioners to consider Online Giving for sending contributions to Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. We also would like to thank all of the parishioners who are currently using this option for sending us contributions. Parishioners who use the service are pleased with how easy it is to set up and manage. This service is safe and secure; no one at the Parish sees any of your confidential information. You can use your checking or savings accounts, even your credit card and the funds will be automatically transferred to our parish bank account. The Online Giving application allows you to start, stop and change your contributions at any time. Visit our website at https://osvhub.com/blessed-sacrament-cathedral/funds to sign up and begin contributions automatically to our parish.

In order to meet our budgetary needs, Blessed Sacrament Cathedral requires an average of $18,000 per week in the regular offertory collection. Parish Support, December 20, 2020

We would like to take this time to thank the companies who advertise on the back of our bulletin. The printing of our bulletin is free because of the companies that advertise with us. As parishioners, we should take the time to read these advertisements and when possible patronize these businesses. If you know of a business that would like to advertise on our bulletin, please have them call J.S. Paluch at 1-800-945-6629.

    Calendars Help Us Mark Time

Calendars for the year 2021 were distributed on the Octave Day of the Nativity of the Lord: Mary, The Holy Mother of God. A special thanks to those funeral homes who provide us with these beautiful calendars. Calendars can be found in the vestibule of the church.

May we see time as a gift from God. May we

treasure the time we share with family and friends. May we take the time to share our gifts with

    those in need.

Catholic Charities offers virtual counseling Social distancing can take a toll. So can waiting in line to get into a grocery or hardware store. It’s not unusual to feel angry, or frustrated, or confused. For some people, the pandemic restrictions can magnify feelings of anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, grief and a wide variety of other issues. Catholic Charities provides virtual counseling to help address those issues and more. Taking care of your own emotional well-being is very important to you and the people you love. You don’t need to face these feelings alone. Call Catholic Charities at 724-837-1840 or email [email protected].
