INFANTRYWHERE SOLDIERS ARE MADE

INFANTRY OVERVIEWMembers of the infantry are warriors, trained to defend their country, their unit and themselves in battle. With access to cutting-edge equipment and facilities, an infantry fire team will neutralize enemy forces, hardware and positions.

All members of the infantry are skilled and trained to serve their community and state in the event of a natural disaster. From combat missions to rescue efforts, infantry Soldiers are always ready and always there, embodying everything the Guard stands for.

ENLISTED MOS OPTIONS11B INFANTRYMAN:The infantry is the main land combat force and fighting foundation of the Army National Guard. They are responsible for defending against any threat by land, as well as capturing, destroying and repelling enemy ground forces.

JOB DUTIES• Perform as a member of a fire team during drills and

combat• Aid in the mobilization of vehicles, troops and weaponry• Assist in reconnaissance missions• Process prisoners of war and captured documents• Use, maintain and store combat weapons (e.g., rifles,

machine guns, antitank mines, etc.)

11C INDIRECT FIRE INFANTRYMAN:The indirect fire infantryman supervises or is a member of a mortar squad, section or platoon. Mortar have the most power and range of any weapon in the infantry unit when on the battlefield.

JOB DUTIES• Set up, load and fire three types of mortars: 60mm,

81mm or 120mm• Employ crew and weapons in offensive, defensive and

retrograde ground combat• Operate, clean and store automatic weapons• Employ, fire and recover antipersonnel and antitank

mines• Locate and neutralize mines

INFANTRY OFFICERThe infantry officer is responsible for leading the infantry and combined armed forces during land combat.

JOB DUTIES• The employment

of infantry Soldiers at all levels of command in U.S. and multinational operations.

AT INCREASING LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP, AN INFANTRY CAPTAIN’S DUTIES INCLUDE:• Commanding and controlling the infantry and

combined armed companies and company-sized units (200 - 300 Soldiers)

• Developing doctrine, organizations and equipment for unique infantry missions

• Instructing Infantry skills at service schools and combat training centers

• Serving as an Infantry advisor to other units, including Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve organizations
