Three couples spend a weekend at a summer villa by the sea. As the husbands head off for a fishing trip, the wives wave goodbye. The boat accelerates, and as it heads away from the shore it suddenly explodes. The three women witness the horrific scene.

Within a matter of seconds, their husbands have gone… Just as they planned.

Veera, Johanna and Kirsi are three best friends in their 30s who have been extremely unhappy for years. The reason? Their husbands.

At the end of their tethers, they make a life-changing decision – they must get rid of their husbands once and for all.

When the deed is done it is time for the women to start anew. But things are never that straightforward. Are they?

Episode 1Veera, Johanna and Kirsi execute their long-awaited plan. As their husbands head-off on a fishing trip, the boat explodes in a ball of fire and their husbands are gone. The police are quick to respond but the women have more pressing concerns. Thinking Jukka has staged his own death, his business partner Rami threatens the life of Veera and her daughter Siiri unless Jukka comes out of hiding.

Episode 2Veera makes a startling discovery in the garden shed when a bag full of cash falls on her – half a million. The wom-en soon realise that this is what Rami was looking for. Rami is relentless in his search and the women are forced to bring in the police to stop his constant calling. Jukka, having survived the explosion hears on the radio that the boat accident was an attempted murder and decides to head to the city. He secretly approaches his daughter Siiri but asks her to keep his presence a secret. While Kirsi discovers she won’t receive a penny in insurance following the death of Nils, Johanna is shocked when Lasse’s long-lost son Joonas appears on her doorstep.

Episode 3Unaware that he is still alive, Jukka’s funeral goes ahead. Rami appears in search of the money under the guise of paying his respects. Kirsi decides to set up a blog called ‘Diamond-Shaped Tear’ where she lives out an imaginative life of luxury. Jukka, assuming Rami is behind the explosion, follows him and attacks him but they soon conclude that their ex-business partner Pharmateca was behind the explosion. Rami reveals that he has a DVD of incriminat-ing evidence against Pharmateca. Veera decides to take the bag of money to Rami to get rid of him but as she pulls up at his building, she hears a horrible scream and Rami falls from his balcony onto the pavement in front of her.

Episode 4Veera, shocked by the death of Rami, flees the scene, still holding the bag of cash, but she is spotted by a neighbour who informs the police. The police call Veera in for questioning and also want to talk to Siiri. At her hour of need, Veera receives an unexpected email from Rami, sent before he died. In the email he confesses to the bomb on the boat and claims he can’t live with the guilt anymore. While this makes no sense to the women, it clears Veera’s name. Chief Inspector Bror “Buntta” Pentikäinen declares that the boat accident case is closed now that they have a confession.

EPISODIC SYNOPSES

Episode 5Veera, Kirsi and Johanna toast their new life: Rami has gone and the police and criminals have left them alone. The mood is tipsy and relieved, but then Veera’s phone rings. It’s Irina Palojoki from Pharmateca, who has decided to buy JST, Jukka’s and Rami’s company. Veera is ready to sell JST at once but Johanna is worried and agrees to handle the sale for Veera. Jukka breaks into his own home and seeks out the bag of cash. Now all he needs is the tape incriminating Pharmateca. Little does he know, Rami’s mother took the DVD, along with a box full of junk to the police station when Rami died.

Episode 6Johanna prepares for her meeting at Pharmateca. Last time, Irina delegated the meeting to her assistant Vesa. This time, the meeting takes on another tone. Irina admits she underestimated the women and hoped the low offer would have been accepted. Now she’s giving Johanna a much higher figure to consider. Johanna begins to suspect Irina’s reasons. She thinks she’s found their husband’s partner in crime. Veera takes this as a sign to get rid of the company fast. Johanna tells Irina the price has been accepted. Veera and her new flame Erno finally get some time alone but as things heat-up, Veera notices a hooded male figure in the doorway – her dead and buried husband Jukka.

Episode 7To Veera’s horror, Jukka is alive and asking who blew up the boat. Jukka gradually explains to Veera exactly what he got himself into and why he suspects Pharmateca were behind the explosion. It transpires that people died in the illegal drug tests carried out by Pharmateca. The cash that Veera had found was to keep Jukka quiet. Jukka needs Rami’s DVD for life insurance. Veera rushes to stop Johanna from completing the sale of JST to Pharmateca and attempts to appease her by offering her the role of CEO. Veera throws the bag of money at Jukka and tells him she wants a divorce. Meanwhile, Petri discovers that Buntta has a vested interest in Pharmateca.

Episode 8Veera has to keep Jukka’s return a secret from Johanna and Kirsi. Jukka promises to grant Veera a divorce and give her custody of Siiri. Veera and Jukka are trying to explain to Siiri that the secrecy game will continue, but now mother is in on it too when Johanna and Kirsi arrive at the house. They are taken by surprise - Jukka is alive and the whole family is sitting at the table like nothing happened. What else has Veera kept from them?

EPISODIC SYNOPSES

Episode 9The widows have to decide what to do now that Jukka has come back from the dead. They try to remain calm while Jukka explains to them he thinks Irina Palojoki blew up the boat. If Jukka lives, he’ll find out the truth about the explosion sooner or later. Finally Veera agrees that Jukka has to be killed, but how? Veera is shocked to discover that she was wrong about Jukka all along and he had tried to protect Siiri, not hurt her. Veera tells her friends the murder plan is off. Johanna feels that Jukka managed to manipulate Veera to his side. Johanna won’t fall into the same trap.

Episode 10Johanna decides to get rid of Jukka on her own. Veera gets in touch with Rami’s mother to buy her stake in the company. The old lady wonders why the police is not doing anything, although she gave them the “film” that should prove Rami innocent. It dawns on Veera that this is the evidence Jukka is looking for! As they begin to get closer, Veera decides to tell Jukka that Rami’s video is at the police station. Petri picks up Johanna to ask some questions about Kirsi’s blog and when Petri leaves the room, Johanna notices Rami’s precious DVD is on the desk! She grabs the DVD and puts it in her purse. Johanna remembers Jukka’s words that if Irina Palojoki finds out he’s alive, he’ll go like Rami. This is an opportunity to get rid of Jukka without dirtying her own hands. Johanna calls Palojoki and proposes a meeting, claiming to have new information about Jukka Joentie.

Episode 11Johanna comes to the agreed meeting with Irina Palojoki, but she doesn’t tell her about Jukka being alive. Instead, she tells Palojoki she found Rami’s DVD and knows that Pharmateca covered up the human victims of the drug tests. To Palojoki’s surprise, Johanna says she understands that sometimes the end justifies the means. She won’t tell the police, if Palojoki agrees to stop her smearing campaign against JST. Veera is shocked when she sees the DVD that Johanna grabbed from the police station. The key to Jukka’s rescue is now in Veera’s hands. Paranoid that she wasn’t told about the DVD, Kirsi wonders whether Veera and Johanna are going to blame her for the ex-plosion. Veera decides to give Rami’s DVD to Jukka. He finally has the life insurance he needs! Irina Palojoki drops her coffee cup, when a dead man calls her and wants to meet her. Vesa sees how shocked his boss is and, thinking Johanna has tried to blackmail Pharmateca, goes in search of her with a gun. Joonas gets caught in the crossfire and is shot in the chest.

EPISODIC SYNOPSES

Episode 12Veera alerts Jukka to the shooting and he decides to stay in the house to protect his family. Johanna tells Veera she should be worried about Kirsi as she has been hitting on Jukka. Veera doesn’t believe her; Kirsi would never try to steal her husband but Jukka is taken by surprise when Veera’s best friend kisses him all of a sudden. Kirsi doesn’t understand when Jukka rejects her passes. Jukka comes to the agreed meeting with Palojoki. The desper-ate managing director pulls out a gun – but Veera, realising that she loves her husband, steps in the way. Palojoki hears that all the women know the truth – and they all have a copy of Rami’s tapes. Irina Palojoki is finally beaten. Everything seems to work out fine. Jukka can return to the living. Together with Veera he plots a story about am-nesia – he has lived at the villa all summer. Veera and Jukka decide to go to the villa to make it look like someone has lived there but Kirsi has a conspiracy theory of her own: Veera and Johanna are trying to get rid of her. When Kirsi hears that Veera and Jukka have gone to the villa, she thinks she sees the whole truth - the man she loves is in danger. Hysterical, Kirsi calls Jukka. Distressed, she tells him everything. Jukka’s boat was not exploded by Irina Palojoki, but his beloved wife.
