Situation

• Bishopswood Grange is situated in the Wye Valley Area of

Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) south west of Ross-on-Wye

on the borders of England and Wales.

• Bishopswood has a local store, whilst Lydbrook and Goodrich

have post offices, village shops, inns and primary schools. A more

comprehensive range of shops and services are in Ross-on-Wye

and the county towns of Hereford and Monmouth, the latter having

a Waitrose and a Marks & Spencer, as well as the highly popular

Haberdashers’ Schools for boys and girls.

• Communications are excellent with the A40 providing fast access

to the M50 at Ross-on-Wye and the M4 at Newport. There are rail

stations at Hereford, Newport, Bristol Parkway and Gloucester.

• This area is famed for its recreational opportunities which include

fishing and water activities on the River Wye, golf courses at Ross-

on-Wye, Monmouth (Rolls of) and Dymock, and stunning walks

through the surrounding countryside and the nearby Wye Valley

and Forest of Dean.

The Property

• Bishopswood Grange is a classically proportioned four bay

late Georgian house with former coach house and stables set

within stunning formal gardens and having an enviable wooded

backdrop. It is a much loved family house which has been

maintained to a high standard for many years.

• Approached up a long tarmac drive to a wide parking area, the

house sits proudly overlooking its grounds. It is entered beneath

an impressive canopy and through a solid panelled front door

to a fine hall with stone tiled floor and decorative coving and

plasterwork. Panelled doors lead off to the sitting, drawing and

dining rooms with their tall shuttered sash windows, handsome

fireplaces and sprung parquet floors. The drawing and dining

rooms in particular have gorgeous views out to the south

and folding doors allow them to be opened up into one large

• Off the hall is the large kitchen with a modern oil fired Aga and

matching electric stove, a central island and a range of bespoke

kitchen units. There is a stable door to outside, whilst beyond is

• The handsome stone staircase rises up to a half landing where

• Beyond are a pair of stone buildings, linked by a carport, which

include the former coach house now used principally for storage,

whilst above is a gym, cloakroom and changing room with shower

for the swimming pool situated in a walled surround behind.

• Opposite is the self-contained staff flat (see Floorplans) with its

own outside terrace and access to the rear gardens. Beneath is a

large garage which opens to the entrance front and work room.

Gardens

• Delightful gardens surround Bishopswood Grange and are an

important asset to the property. To the southern front, lawns run

away from the Wisteria clad flagstone terrace and herbaceous
