Carwash Owner Organized Charity Event for Mother and Other Cancer Diagnosed
There’s a saying that a little goes a long way, and that’s exactly what a car wash owner hopes when concerning his charity to raise money for Cancer Research UK. According an article in Ripley & Heanor News, Aled Pegg, owner of the Hyrdo Hand Car Wash in Ripley, a small town in England, organized a fundraiser in memory of family members who were taken by cancer, and his mother who lives under the difficult treatment process for a tissue tumor.
“One in three people suffer from this awful disease,” Pegg told journalists. “My grandmother died from it, and watching my mum suffer with her tumor makes this event extremely personal to me.” With a target to raise £1000, Pegg and his car wash will offer a barbecue, bake sale, and bouncy castle hoping to draw in families and locals wanting to help. The event will take place on Saturday, June 14, and several organizations have already signed on to assist, including radio station Amber Sound who have agreed to broadcast the event.
Pegg’s mother, Helen, is also getting involved by baking a cake. The 62-‐year-‐old was diagnosed with aggressive angiomyxoma, a rare type of tissue tumor, in 2005 and is currently being treated via hormones for a tumor located in her pelvis. “I am extremely proud of Aled and touched that his idea has stemmed from my illness,” Mrs. Pegg explained. “It is proof that you can turn a negative into a positive.” To make a donation to the charity event, please visit: www.justgiving.com/hydrohandcarwash
