Koalas and Galahs Pete Cromer inspired artwork. Across the school our students are exploring how artists make artworks and are using this as inspiration to create their own brilliant works!

The 3/4 Galahs started off the year by exploring works by Pete Cromer, a contemporary Australian artist, examining his distinctive and unique style which involves a combination of shapes and bright colours. They drew inspiration from Cromer’s works, playing with shapes, colours and patterns, to create their own Galahs!

The Kindergarten Koalas explored the features and bursts of glowing colour in Pete Cromer’s contemporary ‘Koala’ artwork. Students experimented with oil pastel techniques by applying heavy pressure and using short strokes to shade. We also linked this artwork to our learning in Maths as we discussed the different 2D shapes and effectiveness of curved and straight lines in our artwork.

The Kindergarten Koalas and 3/4 Galahs were excited that they were both exploring the same artist. They also appreciated and examined each other’s artworks and discussed the techniques that were used.

The Echidnas play-based learning snapshot! Well done to Charlie, our reporter and Sasha our photographer who investigated healthy habits. Charlie did a wonderful job writing a hand washing procedure and interviewing his peers. Sasha was clever recording videos of his friends washing their hands to keep the germs away. The focus children, Hugo and Callan worked on literacy goals and number formations. Impressive work! Georgia was writing numbers during her investigation time. It was good to see those healthy habits and impressive learning.
