Understanding Meiosis
Observe the sketches and write
UNDERSTANDING CELLULAR DIVISIONS:MEIOSIS
1. Read the contents on pages 34,35,36,37 AND 38.2. Make the activities on page number 39.3. Follow these instructions: ** Draw a cell with four Molecules of DNA. Two
come from the father and the other two, come from the mother. Draw one big molecule and the another one smaller. Use red colour for Father molecules and blue colour for mother molecules.
Each molecule will represent a Chromosome. ** Draw the cell in Interphase before S period. (BS) ** Draw the cell in Interphase after S period.(AFS)

4. Imagine that this cell is a mother cell of gametes either Mother Cell of one Sperm or Mother Cell of one ovule.
** Draw the cell in Prophase I, condensing the Chromosomes. Make the Synapsis between Homologous Chromosomes and then in each pair of Homologous represent the Crossing Over.(Review the contents on page 36,37, 38 and the Power point Meiosis)
** First, represent the Chromosomes suffering SYNAPSIS. ** Then represent the Crossing over between them (RECOMBINATION). ** Finally represent the RECOMBINED chromosomes. 5.What Happens inside the Cytoplasm? Draw the Spindle.( PROPHASE I) ** Draw the cell in Metaphase.I (MET). Represent the Homologous Chromosomes
organized in pairs in the Equator of cell (one Chromosome seeing one pole and its Homologous chromosome seeing another pole).Look up the POWER POINT MEIOSIS.
** Draw the Cell in Anaphase I ** Draw the DAUGTHER CELLS during Telophase I(TELO)5. Fill out the following chart ABOUT MEIOSIS I

7.Draw the two daughter cells during Prophase II. Observe carefully the recombined Chromosomes.
8. Represent these daughter cells in Metaphase II and then in Anaphase II.9. Finally, make a draw of these cells in Telophase II.
