Gary Wedel of Patten Systems, Inc. passed away on September26, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. Gary was a long standingmember of ISA and also a member of the ‘vintage’ SCMA. Gary hadmany friends in the industry and had been involved in theinstrumentation sales business for over 30 years. Through his careerhe covered all of the territories within in Southern California andSouthern Nevada.

Gary achieved many ‘milestones’ throughout his career. Heoriginally signed right out of high school with the Los Angeles Dodgerorganization, played baseball with such stars as Steve Garvey, RonCey and Steve Yeager and was managed by Tommy Lasorda. Hemarried his high school sweetheart, Marie and was happily marriedfor 42 years.

Gary started in the industry with Jensen Instrument Companyback in the early 1970’s and had owned his own successful rep firm,West Coast Instruments for several years. Gary was a ‘fighter’ andrefused to let this terrible disease take him without a fight. It wasapproximately 4 1/2 months from the original diagnosis until the timeof his death. His love of family and friends was overwhelming. Hewas a great father, husband and grandparent and leaves behind aloving wife, three wonderful daughters and four grandchildren. He wasvery well respected in the industry and will be missed by everyone.
