A bioengineer applies principles of engineering to medical and clinical fields. They are involved in the invention and creation of medical devices such as implants and prosthetics.

Usually licensed bioengineers have a four year bachelors degree in Biomedical engineering, but some students major in the electrical or mechanical engineering branches.

Also getting an associates in computer engineering or medical sciences is a plus.
