Echo-cardiogram like the picture shown previously is also referred to as a Cardiac Echo or simply ECHO.

An echo-cardiogram provides a two dimensional image of the heart it is widely used to help detect certain types of cardiovascular disease.

It can provide the size and shape of the heart, its pumping capacity, helps dewtect any damage to the heart valves or tissue.

It can detect abnormalities in the pattern of blood flow, such as the backward flow of blood through partly closed heart valves, known as regurgitation. By assessing the motion of the heart wall, echocardiography can help detect the presence and assess the severity of coronary artery disease, as well as help determine whether any chest pain is

A Holter monitor is a machine that continuously records the heart's rhythms. It is a portable monitor that is usually worn for 24 - 48 hours during normal activity

Small patches or electrodes are placed on to the persons chest,The monitor can then be placed inside a pocket. This is a harmless test.

A holter monitor is used to determine how the heart reacts toward daily activities, so you would keep a diary of what you are doing while the monitor is on.

A Holter monitor can be used to monitor someones heart if they had a recent heart attack, or to diagnose heart rhythm problems.

A procedure in which blood is taken from a patient's circulation to have a process applied to it before it is returned to the circulation. All of the apparatus carrying the blood outside the body is termed the extracorporeal circuit

Extracorporeal Ciculation (ECC)Is widley used during open heart surgery, it routes the blood to a heart-lung machine so it can be oxygenated and pumpedto the rest of the body.

These are just a few of what is being used today in procedures. One can only imagine what more can be invented.

There are now Holter Monitor machine for canines

There are also 3 dimensional Echo-cardiograms

Medicine and its tools are only improving.
