2.“Wake me up when September ends” by Greenday.

SONG’S LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjNJmwwf7QA CONCEPT: The video starts by a dialogue, focusing on a very loving teenage couple as the boyfriend promises never to leave his girlfriend.

Video is shot at several different places. Mostly natural settings and one shoot of the band at a studio setting.

Mise-en-scene

In fields At cafe At home At his birthday

Band shots at studio Training center At Battle field Washroom

Page 9: Binte's 5 video analysis

Lighting:•Natural lighting is used mostly due to shoots in natural setting.

•However, there is ample lighting at indoor shoots but in the studio shoot of the band there is very less or may be no key or fill light due to which shadows are casted on the band members' face.

Makeup & costumes: •Makeup and costumes of the actors is kept casual. However the hero is seen in army uniform after he joins army.

•Entire band is dressed in black and Vocalist is wearing black eyeliner to give a rock star look which is hallmark of the vocalist now.

3.“Gallan” by Ali Azmat• SONG’S LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK03lRyTuEA • CONCEPT:Singer Ali is the main character of the video with all the band

members playing part in the video as well. Unlike “na re na” the idea is kept simple and the story isn’t convoluted. Its about a person who is awake late at night and goes out to by something to eat and everything is working like a daily life scenario until he is stalked by some hooligans and then the story changes to fiction with a big ant attacking Ali. Overall a fiction based story.

Mise-en-scene•In “gallan” since the video is animated so a colorful Mise en scene is seen overall. Some what that we usually see in cartoons and does not represent reality.

Page 12: Binte's 5 video analysis

LIGHTING:•Likewise in “gallan” lighting is kept dark and somewhere bright to keep a contrast in the fiction character setting.

COSTUMES/MAKEUP:

•In “gallan” there isn’t any role of costumes as all the characters are seen in casual clothing as per the requirement of the video. They are mostly dressed in a way of streetr boys or hooligans

Page 13: Binte's 5 video analysis

SPECIAL EFFECTS:oHowever, a lot of effects and animation techniques are used in the making of “gallan” i.e. creating a giant ant and its movements. Captions are used to make the meaning clear.

CONCLUSION:“Gallan” is part of Ali’s second album Kalashinfolk released in 2008 and was a follow up of Social circus. This album took the viewers on different note as it didn’t involve highlighting the social issues instead was based on daily life happenings. “Gallan’s” video is semi animated with the characters having their original look. However, the background was kept animated the entire time in the video till the end. Animated video was seen in Ali’s video “teri parchaiyaan” too in the previous album.

5. LOLLIPOP( MIKA)SONG’S LINK:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6md5RSnVUuo

CONCEPT:The Lollipop symbolizes innocence. Basically, I believe this saying is talking about taking your "Sweet" time with falling in love. A very happy and bubbly song that will just make u dance and make u forget all your worries!

MISE-EN-SCENE:Since its one of the videos from the album “life in a cartoon motion” as the name suggests it has to be animated and some what “happy!” . Like most of Mika’s videos this is animated as well. Mise-en-scene in lollipop is an explosion of Technicolor spectacles: the pinks, purples, blues, greens, oranges, and yellows evoke Candy Land via magic markers

Page 15: Binte's 5 video analysis

•Lighting will be usually done in adobe flash player.

•Different movements of cartoon characters are also created in a Flash Player.

Doves, flowers, vinyl records, a piano, and swirls of rainbow colors are floating extensions of Mika’s hyperactive brainwaves while the figurines correspond to this animated song where a little girl is holding a lollipop.

Page 16: Binte's 5 video analysis

• A series of nursery stories stacked up in one video reflecting innocence of the little girl’s character.

Page 17: Binte's 5 video analysis

•SONG’S LINK:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlSHofXy6Lw •CONCEPT:Right down from lead composer Xulfi’s largely Western proclivities to the uniquely Pakistani soul pervasive in the album Irtiqa manages to give a deviant performance from most other Pakistani releases. Irtiqa is very nonconformist, nothing mainstream, and ultimately a genius in its own way. Most of Irtiqa is submerged in either one or more of these three moods – angry, resolving, stubborn.

4.IRTIQA by E.P

Mise-en-scene:The video is shot is some unusual setting of an operation theater, jail environment and a railway track.

Page 18: Binte's 5 video analysis

LIGHTING:Dark Mise-en-sen used dark with the low fill light. To reduce the contrast of a scene and provide some illumination for the areas of the image that are in shadow fill light is used only.

COSTUMES AND MAKE:Costumes are the integral part of this video. There are symbols used to mark what is being said through the lyrics. There are symbolic Islamic or non Islamic people wrapped in a hollow masks or news papers

ACTING:Powerful acting along with meaningful expressions.

Page 19: Binte's 5 video analysis

EDITING:Modern editing style with cross dissolves, fast forwards, slow motions, Flash backs and Flash forwards in several arrears. Jump cuts and cut away are common.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:•Production quality is remarkable. The brightness and contrast make the video more dramatic. •Camera movements is moved in many ways with rapid and confusing motions, etc. that establish the rhythm and point of view of a scene . Pan, track shot and handheld are usually the main camera movements. •In framing, canted framing is mainly used to create an impression of chaos and instability .
