Introduction

William Martin Joel was born in 1949 in New York, USA He was influenced by early rock-and-roll and rhythm-and-blues artists

such The Beatles and the Four Seasons. He started with a band called the Echoes which he later left to pursue

his own solo career Not only a talented singer but Joel was also had many docorates

including; Humane Letters, Music, Fine Arts and Musical Arts.

The lyrics of the song depicts a woman who has become famous however she has adopted an idea that she is better than everyone else and considers herself to be too good for where she was raised. Joel describes her haughtiness and yet he also describes how he also desires her as much as everyone else appears to.Joel plays the role of a conscience to this woman warning her that eventually people will stop caring about her and she will end up alone and friendless.
