This year will be known for many things to many people around the world. Phrases like unprecedentedtimes, pivot, and zoom fatigue have all become part of our worldwide language. This global time-outgrounded many of us and, at the same time, provided a great opportunity to meet, collaborate, and learnfrom one another. In many cases, we have made and jump-started worldwide partnerships because of theinability to travel.
Building on the platinum success of 2019, the ABoR Global Advisory Group and ABoR Global Ambassadorscontinue to develop a robust suite of global programming, education, tools, and resources, and work toexpand our Global Business Alliance.
The ABoR Global Advisory Group collaborated with the staff to appoint 24 ABoR Global Ambassador's in2020, expanding from thirteen in 2019. For the first time, ABoR GBA partnered with the National Associationof REALTORS® to launch a Central Texas International Homebuyers Survey. This survey will produce ABoR'sinaugural 2020 Central Texas International Homebuyers Report due out at the end of the year.
In June, we kicked off the 2020 ABoR Global Week, announcing our first international Memorandum ofUnderstanding between the Austin Board of REALTORS® and The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA),launching the week with a presentation from CREA. The value that international collaboration brings to ourlocal marketplace cannot be overstated.
The ABoR Global Advisory Group is also proud to announce that the Austin Board of REALTORS®, as part ofits global program through the National Association of REALTORS®, has been confirmed as the newAmbassador Association to Ireland. The cornerstone of this bilateral agreement is with the Institute ofProfessional Auctioneers & Valuers (IPAV). In forging this new partnership, ABoR Global staff will be workingclosely with NAR Global leadership.
Austin is being recognized worldwide as a marketplace for real investments. Our theme going into 2020 wasto Think Globally, Act Locally, to expand upon our partnerships and connections we are cultivating withmany cities, chambers, consulates, and strategic alliances. We continue to partner with our economicdevelopment organizations through Central Texas and beyond.
We are excited about our foundational work for our membership as a rising tide lifts all boats.
