ADULT CONFIRMATION PROGRAM

The Archdiocesan Adult Confirmation Program is designed for practicing adult (18+) Catholics seeking the sacrament of Confirmation, who have been baptized, have received their first Holy Communion, and have been educated in the Catholic faith through Catholic Schools or religious education programs.

The Archdiocesan Adult Confirmation Program will present an overview of the essentials of the Catholic Faith, focusing on immediate catechesis for the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation. This is a program of adult faith formation that combines presentations, group discussion, reflection

and prayer. The sessions will cover Sacred Scripture and Tradition, the Creed, prayer and spirituality, the Church, Catholic social teaching and meaning of the sacrament of Confirmation

This Program is not for adults who are unbaptized, or baptized but uncatechized (not practicing

Catholics); who would benefit from participation in their parish’s RCIA process. Pastor’s permission is required to participate in this program.

YEAR OF MERCY

WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST

When you go away and want someone to mind the house, you plan well. We often need that. Who’ll look after the alarm in the house and keep a watchful eye? Same with Jesus…the people of the Gospel are the ones who look after His business while He is away! God invests in us. We, His Church, are the people He entrusts with His life’s work.

We spread the kingdom in simple ways every day – care, hospitality, work for justice, compassion, using the gifts and talents we have. He has given us the gifts – we are to use them in His service. We do our best and God, the architect, is continually building with us. He is the extra presence around in His Spirit. So when we do things in His service,

He is the inspirer. Yet He leaves a lot to us.

And He feeds us. He works with us and for us. The slave/master turned upside down. People would never expect that the master would serve the meal or wash the feet. We are nourished and renewed in the Eucharist. There is a need now for volunteer help within the church – we need it now and will in the future. We

need to form people who can hand on faith when the parish may be called on to do more, and to do what the Catholic school has done up to now. The kingdom is spread through the work of the Church, and we are this Church, this body of Christ. We are the true blessed sacraments of Jesus Christ.

Abrahán, Nuestro Padre en La Fe

La fe de Abraham que salió victorioso después de tantas pruebas, ha hecho que para nosotros no solo sea modelo sino también “nuestro padre en la fe”.

No es extraño que el salmo aleluyatico nos recuerde estas palabras concretas: “estad en vela y preparados porque a la hora que menos penséis viene el Hijo del hombre”.

Esta fe es muy necesaria en la vida y el Papa Francisco, en el número 56 de su carta “La luz de la Fe” nos dice así:

“Viendo la unión de Cristo con el Padre incluso en el momento de mayor sufrimiento en la cruz, el

cristiano aprende a participar en la misma mirada de Cristo, incluso la muerte queda iluminada y puede ser vivida como la última llamada de la fe, el ultimo “sal de la tierra”, el ultimo “ven”

pronunciado por el Padre en cuyas manos nos ponemos con la confianza de que nos sostendrá incluso en el paso definitivo”.
