Wow!

What an adventure and we are so thankful to

have been able to share with all of you this wonder-

ful journey.

We can all agree The Big Community Event was

a huge success and we have never been so moved

and so proud to have the privilege of calling all of

you our friends.

The Big Event would not have been possible

were it not for the support and generosity of an

entire community, but most of all each and every

one of you.

Your tireless dedication and commitment to

a common goal of seeing our community come

together not just in spirit, but for future growth and

benefit to all is something we can all be proud of.

The magic experienced on Feb. 26, 2012 would

be difficult to reproduce and I for one am glad to

have experienced it.

Everyone should be so lucky to experience the

bond of living in a small community at least once

in their lifetime, where everyone cares so much.

We have no doubt if we can keep this spirit alive,

we can achieve anything we put our minds to.

Feb. 27 was a big day for us, and they don’t call

it “The Big Decision” for nothing.

We had a great day with Arlene Dickinson and

the CBC wrapping up the filming for our episode.

Although we can’t say too much, we can say that

the future for Hardy Buoys Smoked Fish is more

reassuring.

We have never stopped believing in our business,

our products and our crew’s ability to get over this

hurdle.

We are a great team, and so happy that others

share our vision that not only does Hardy Buoys

deserve an opportunity for growth and success, but

the North Island deserves this as well.

So now we can all look forward to March 12, the

start date of the Big Decision, and watch the other

businesses as they work for the same results we

have all worked so hard for.

Then we can all watch April 2, when Hardy

Buoys and the North Island shine on national T.V.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for

everything.

Bruce, Carol and The Crew of Hardy Buoys Smoked Fish Inc.

Thank you As the publisher of the

North Island Gazette and

a resident of the North

Island my family and I were thrilled

to attend the Big Event.

During the past 20 years living in

Port Hardy, I have seen time and

time again the great support North

Islanders offer to one another, but

for me the Big Event topped them

all!

This event, organized by Hardy

Buoys, their crew and so many

North Island businesses and citi-

zens in such a short time frame,

was a huge success and an amazing

day.

I was even more proud than usual

— if that’s possible — to call the

North Island my home that day.

It was great to see so many mem-

bers of other North Island com-

munities attend and show their sup-

port as well.

The North Island Gazette staff

was happy to put together this pic-

torial commemorative pullout so

we can all have a physical keepsake

of the great day and how the resi-

dents of the North Island teamed

up yet again to show the world how

we all pull together for a common

cause.

In these pages you will see shots

by our staff and our readers who

had taken so many great photos.

Good luck Hardy Buoys and be

sure to watch the Big Decision to

see how we all did that day!

If it were based on that day alone,

it wouldn’t be a Big Decision to

know you were successful in bring-

ing the communities together!

THE EXECUTIVES Are proud to announce that we tied for first in the Domino’s Pizza contest!

Our share of the winnings, $2500 will be donated to the Hardy Bay Seniors Centre

Our Group & the Challenge: This recipe is definitely not from grandma’s collection or from Chef Google. Five Port Hardy friends, all lovers of animals, food, wine, and good conversation developed (through trial and error) this tantalizing mix of ingredients to showcase Hardy Buoy’s smoked salmon. We tossed the tomato sauce and opted for a more subtle, creamier base. Carefully selected ingredients add flavour and texture that make every mouthful a taste sensation. Truly a gourmet pizza that will keep Port Hardy and Hardy Buoy’s in your mind forever!

The Pizza: Ocean’s Delight The ocean is Port Hardy’s crowning jewel. This pizza stars Hardy Buoy’s Smoked salmon, accented with flavours of pepper, cayenne, chives and bacon, smothered in Havarti and Mozzarella cheeses. An eagle head (made from cheese and apple) crowns the top. This bird symbolizes strength, beauty, and a dependency on the ocean for its survival. A mirror image of what Port Hardy means to us.
