Data Lake on Hadoop that provides a copy of production data and stores it “as is” in
bulk to be better described and distilled later.
Atomic level copy of data from across the enterprise not only simplifies data ingest
and store by avoiding expensive Extract, Load, Transform (ETL) process, but also
opens up possibilities for extensive big data analytics.
By applying Predictive Analytics on Solix BDS (Hadoop), KloudData arms its customers
with the tools and applications to mine the entire data set for richer, deeper, and
broader insights than previously possible.
The predictive models that we apply on Hadoop are a complex blend of statistical
methods. The culmination of the data scientist’s work may exist in the form of IBM SPSS,
KNIME, Python, R, SAS or others. To make the model accessible to business users, the
data science team must collaborate with the organization’s IT professionals to
“operationalize” the model. The IT team must re-code the model to adapt it to one of
these formats. The process is intensely manual and results in a lengthy process of
question and clarification between the data scientists and the IT team.

Data is being generated too quickly and is changing too rapidly for manual processes to
keep pace. To overcome these challenges and accelerate deployment of predictive
analytics models we employ a standards based technology using Predictive Model
Markup Language (PMML), which removes the complexity of model-to-model translation
and data science-to-IT operationalization.
We use Zementis Inc.’s PMML-based solutions to build big data analytics applications for
our customers. After generating the predictive models in PMML format using standard
tools such as KNIME, R, IBM SPSS for the specific business problem, we rely on UPPI™, a
tool for big data scoring for our model deployment on Solix BDS (Hadoop). UPPI™ helps us
build big data analytics solutions to use the full power of predictive analytics, enabling
organizations to crack the code of their big data assets and put that insight to work.
The Zementis Universal PMML Plug-in(UPPI) enables rapid deployment of
predictive models and Delivers massively-parallel scoring for big data applications.
