Welcome to Holy Rosary Parish
Dear Friends, Next weekend at all the Masses, Ward Qumsieh, a representative from Holylands Arts, will share just a bit about their ministry and make available their beautiful olive wood carvings for your viewing and purchase. In the past many of our families have used this opportunity to adorn their home with religious art or as an opportunity for gift shopping for friends and family. For more information, read further in our bulletin. Please note that Monday, November 1 is All Saints Day, typically a holy day of obligation. However, since the feast day falls on a Monday, there is no Mass obligation. We still plan to celebrate the feast day at 8AM Monday morning. ‘Hope you can join us for the celebration. Christ’s peace, Fr. Bernie

Holylands Arts at Holy Rosary With the hostilities worsening in the Holy Land and due to lack of Christian pilgrims because of COVID-19, unemployment rate increased to almost 80%. Holylands Arts is one of the few Christian Organizations that took the responsibility of helping Christians of the Holy Land market their hand crafts in the United States. Many Christian Palestinians have responded by fleeing the Holy Land. And, it is conceivable that all Christians could leave. However, the absence of a living Christian community is very dangerous for the Holy sites such as the Nativity Church in Bethlehem. Artwork will be available in the atrium after each Mass on November 6/7. By purchasing these engraved pieces of art, you help strengthen the Christian presence in the city of Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, and the surrounding areas. Proceeds go to the Christian families (the artisans) who have been working hard since ages in this type of tourism related hand-carvings.

Catholic Parishes Campaign 2021-2022 Called to be Faithful and Prudent Stewards
“One of the chief responsibilities of the Office of the Chancellor is to assure the directives of the USCCB's Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People are followed. The Diocese of Evansville recently learned that it is in compliance with the data collection requirements for the 2019-2020 Charter audit period. StoneBridge Business Partners carried out the audit.” The Office of the Cancellor is supported by our contributions to the Catholic Parishes Campaign.
— The Diocese of Evansville 2020 Impact Report Thank you to everyone in our parish who has made a gift or pledge commitment to CPS. Our latest report shows that we have reached 80% of our goal. We will be sending reminder letters to parishioners who have not yet made a pledge. Please prayerfully consider making a pledge today. Thanks for your support of our diocese and the good work it does to sustain and grow the Catholic Church in Southern Indiana.

Vocations Office Fall Update October 1, 2021 Vocations Office Is Sustaining & Expanding
August opened upon a new school year for our diocese. Kids returned after a good summer break, and with most events and places being fully open, life and ministry is flourishing in the Church of Southwest Indiana.
After an August gathering with Bishop Siegel at Sarto, eleven seminarians are now at one of the three campuses we use for their formation. Two of the men are new this year: Nathan Folz from Good Shepherd in Evansville and Jake Schneider from Corpus Christi in Evansville. Due to pandemic restrictions canceling most retreats and barring priests from extracurricular activities last year in dioceses across the country, most dioceses saw a substantial decrease in their seminarian count compared with 2020-21. We stayed level year-over-year. Thank you to the parents, family and mentors of our discerners for encouraging our men to continue discerning or to take the next step. You made that happen!
Four men moved into the Father Deydier House of Discernment: Keith Hart from St. Peter in Montgomery, José de Jesus Lara from St. Francis Assisi in Dale, Jacob Greulich from Corpus Christi in Evansville, and Blaise Kelley from St. Wendel in Posey County. These men are either at school at USI or working in the Evansville area.
Two “Savio Nights” are in the books. Nearly 60 teenage guys attended our gathering at the House in Evansville on September 5. For the first time, the Vocations Office hosted a Savio Night in Jasper, as well. 17 teenagers from various parishes gathered for that first event on September 26 at St. Joseph Parish. When “Savio” began in Evansivlle in Octber 2018, 14 teenage guys attended. Today, more than 140 different young men have come from more than 20 parishes. There is great hope that our Dubois community will likewise grow in the coming years.
Sem i nar ian po s te r s feature each of our men with their dads. The “Year of St. Joseph” will come to a close this winter, and before it does, we wanted to honor the men who fostered the faith and human maturation for our eleven seminarians before they entered seminary. Posters are available at the Catholic Center.
A new promotional video was released on the “Evansville Vocations” YouTube channel highlighting the weekly Monday Night Holy Hour & Mass for Vocations at Sacred Heart Church in Evansville. Nearly 200 of the faithful attend weekly, and a substantial portion of them are under the age of 30. Confession lines are long, even with two priests, and many who have met at TEC, Cursillo, Source+Summit or other diocesan events are able to pray together and reconnect again. All are welcome for the 6:30pm Holy Hour & 7:30pm Mass for Vocations.
In the coming months, Savio will gather monthly both in Evansville and in Jasper, and discernment retreats will be offered for the many young men who are hearing the stirrings of a call to priesthood. Please pray for them. Please encourage them, too. If you would like more information on any of the above, please email diocesan vocation director, Fr. Tyler Tenbarge ([email protected]) or call the diocese and leave him a message.

Mass of Remembrance
During this weekend liturgies, October 30/31, we will be remembering those from the parish who have died in the past 12 months. The names of each person will be read at all the Masses and a candle will be displayed in their memory through the month on November. We pray with our parish families who have lost loved ones this year.

Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time October 30/31, 2021
In today’s Gospel, Jesus said, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” It was not meant to be a suggestion or an option. He didn’t say we shall love our neighbor when it fits into our day or suits our schedule, or after we’ve completed our various recreations. It is a requirement for Christians; to exercise good stewardship over the neighbors entrusted to us by God. It is a requirement often ignored when we put up barriers of anger, fear, or intolerance for a neighbor. How can we look beyond our own personal difficulties to see what we can do to love the person who lives next door, works next to us, or who sits next to us in the church pew?
