TheBikeFriendlyAmericaprogramhaswidespreadapplica1oninanycommunity,andwearecon1nuallysearchingforuniquewaystoengageourlocalSantaMonicabusinesseswiththeprogram.TheSantaMonicacampaignaimstoiden1fy,cer1fy,andassistlocalbusinessesthatmaybeeligiblefortheBicycleFriendlyBusinessdesigna1on.Eachbusinesshasdis1nctopportuni1estoincorporatebicyclingintotheiroverallbusinessmodel,andweseeourroleasbeingfacilitatorsforunderstandingandu1lizingthoseopportuni1es.Beinginthebicycleindustry,bikefriendlinessisinourDNA,andsharingthatknowledgeandexper1sewithlocalbusinesseshelpsensurebicyclistsarebe?eraccommodatedcommunitywide.Ourgoalistoprovideinforma1onandprofessionalassistancetobusinessesthatwanttobemorebicyclefriendly,andtopromotebusinessesthathavealreadyachievedmeasurablebikefriendlyresults.Weaimtohelpdesignate25%ofbusinessesineachNeighborhoodOrganiza1onarea.SeeNeighborhoodOrganiza1onBoundariesmaponthenextpage.

SantaMonica’s20-yearplancallsforwalking,bikingandtransittoreplacenewcartripsatarateofatleast1for1by2030.ThevisionwillmakeSantaMonicaoneofthemostbikefriendlyci1esinthecountry.Encouragingthecommunitytocycleasameansoftravelisakeyelementofthisstrategy.SantaMonicahasbeenencouragingcar-litecommu1ngfordecades,throughemployerregula1ons,bikeweekpromo1ons,andabikevaletprogramthathasprovidedfreeparkingformorethan100,000bikes.Thecityhasalsoseenadecreaseinthenumberofbikecollisionssince2011,andrecentlyapprovedtheinstalla1onofapublicBikeSharesystem.Bikefriendlyaccomplishments:• Engineering:Completedbikeinfrastructureimprovements
