1. CITY OVERVIEW Bhubaneswar is the capital city of the Indian state of Odisha. It is the state's largest city, and a centre of economic and religious importance. Bhubaneswar, categorised as a Tier-II city, is often referred to as a Temple City of India, and together with Puri and Konark, it forms the Swarna Tribhuja (Golden Triangle); one of the most visited destinations in eastern part of India. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are often commonly referred to as the twin-cities of Odisha.
The State Capital of Orissa formed in 1948. 2nd Planned City of India it was planned for 80% Residential Use by German architect Otto Königsberger. Total Area under BDA is 393.57 sq.kms and population is 8,57,406 (Sex Ratio: Male 56%, Female 44%).

Currently four malls are operational in Bhubaneswar: Forum Mart at Kharvella, Pal Heights at Jaydev Vihar Bhawani Mall at Shahid Nagar and Maruti Mall at Patia. Focus area of retailers are still on high street. Shahid Nagar and Janpath are major retail zones of the area. In assumption of future IT growth, some retailers came here earlier but due to stagnancy interest among retailers diminished.
