BEYOND THE BEACH ~ BAJA LUXPLORATIONAUTHENTIC EXPERIENCES IN BAJA
BEYOND THE BEACH ~ BAJA LUXPLORATION
From marine life to mountain trails, this curated collection of inherently spontaneous experiences will reveal the
magic of Baja’s diverse land, wildlife and people.
Our partners are locals - naturalists, adventurers, farmers and artisans - and their insider knowledge will delight
with personal narratives and expertise. These itineraries are to inspire exploration beyond our gates and can be
customized to your tastes, all with our signature style of luxurious comfort.
Start the day with a sunrise standup
paddle board at Cabo’s iconic Land’s End.
This final point of the Baja Peninsula is
the place of postcards where dramatic
rock formations jut out of the sapphire
sea. The natural Arch “El Arco” frames the
meeting of the turbulent Pacific Ocean
and the tranquil Sea of Cortez. Schools of
fish scamper and sea lions splash as you
glide along the cliffs to an intimate strip
of sand that straddles the two bodies of
water. Lay out a brunch picnic or return
to Don Manuel’s pop-up breakfast buffet

SECRETS OFBAJA’S SIERRA
The backroads of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains are Baja’s best kept secret so let’s
keep this between us. Outside the tiny town of Santiago lies an enchanted wonderland,
lush like a jungle, but with the flora and fauna of a desert. It’s a fairytale landscape
unlike anywhere you’ve seen. Our 4x4 jeeps will chauffeur us to discreet trailheads
where we’ll hike around granite boulders and oversized cacti to discover oases of
hidden waterfalls, swimming holes and hot springs. After a morning of excursions, we’ll
recharge at the rustic Rancho El Refugio ecological reserve where local legend, Doña
Luz, will demonstrate her hand-slapping, tortilla-making technique before indulging us
with endless quesadillas. This is traditional Baja hospitality at its best.
BUCKET LIST: SWIM WITH WHALE SHARKS
The boat suddenly idles and you stare
at an approaching shadow in the water
that grows larger and larger. Seconds
later, you’re face-to-face with the gentle
giant itself, the whale shark. Growing up
to 40-feet in length and with mouths up
to five-feet wide The world’s largest fish
are filter-feeders after all, completely
harmless to humans. You’ll return to
the resort early enough to recount the
momentous experience over a poolside
margarita.
Best Season : October - May
Imagine yourself on a panga motorboat racing into the horizon. The
quaint town of La Paz fades in the distance and you enter the calm,
protected waters of the bay. This is where you’ll find them...
EXPLOREESPIRITU SANTOISLAND
The Espiritu Santo Island and the
surrounding archipelago is so distinct
and diverse that it is often referred to as
“The Galapagos of North America.” You
will immediately see why as you explore
this UNESCO-protected biosphere
reserve by private yacht or panga.
Savor fresh ceviche and guacamole
while manta rays skim across the
water’s surface and frigatebirds circle
above. And don’t miss the opportunity
to snorkel with playful sea lions. On
the return, sip champagne as the sun
sets at Balandra Bay with sailboats and
paddle boarders silhouetted against the
tangerine skies.
WHALE SHARKS +ESPIRITU SANTO ISLAND.Enjoy two experiences in one.
BAJA SUR’SSURFING PLAYGROUND
With warm waters, consistent waves, and a variety of breaks and swells, Baja Sur’s
dozens of beaches, bays, coves, and cliffs are a surfer’s playground paradise. Whether
learning to “pop up” in a beginner lesson at the sandy-bottomed beach break of Los
Cerritos or practicing cutbacks on the speedy, right, reef break of Zippers, our local
pros will tailor a trip to your level of expertise.
THE “OCEAN MIRACLE”OF CABO PULMOMARINE PARK
Ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau once
famously proclaimed Baja’s Sea of Cortez
to be “the world’s aquarium.” There’s no
better place to validate that description
than the UNESCO protected Cabo
Pulmo Marine Park. Heralded as a marine
conservation success story, its living
coral reefs are teeming with species of all
shapes, sizes and colors. From swarming
schools of yellow pork fish to a sun
bathing colony of sea lions, the diversity
of marine life will dazzle from above and
below its turquoise waters. Our bilingual
naturalists will lead you on snorkel and
stand up paddle board excursions in the
reserve’s bays and coves.
Best Season: March to November
