Project Management

• Developed my own technique of laser cutting silicone to allow for laser etching tattoos into prosthetic limbs and applied this to the first person in the UK walking around with a laser etched tattoo.

• Managed my own R&D project of developing sheeted silicone, and laser cutting and etching silicone as well as creating an online tattoo bank, full of hundreds of computer drawn rhino designs for tattoos.

• Created my own range of bespoke custom prosthetic limbs, I continue to work with clients on the side of my model-making job now creating and designing custom prosthetics for them.

• The project itself required a lot of time spent on research and development which is something I feel I have a confident and passionate skill set in.

Work experience

• 2 weeks (Easter 2012) RAPROPS- work experience working in model making and special fx, worked on sculpting and prosthetic pieces, specifically sculpting piece for Doctor Who.

• 1 month (January 2012) Inanimate: University film, worked Art production team. Creating a horse’s head as well a 3 8ft trees.

• 2 weeks (Easter 2013) Dorset Orthopaedics (leading prosthetic company in the UK) learning about silicone prosthetic limbs as well as developing my own research and development project on laser etching and tattooing prosthetic limbs.

• 2 weeks Twins FX (Easter 2013) • Worked with Nusil technology (November 2013) in developing my custom made silicone • Research and developed my own technique for laser cutting silicone and thus applying this to creating a

custom laser etched tattoo in silicone on an actual client who’s been walking around with the design for a year.

Previous jobs and internships

Walt Disney World Company 2013 3rd June- 9thAugust 2013- Lifeguard

• Ellis lifeguard qualified • Challenging long days in the heat requiring ability to maintain concentration and focus. • Ability to mentally deal with the challenges of the job such as being efficient and dealing with extreme

circumstances such as guests having heart attacks or strokes. • In any situation I felt well trained and part of a good team and even under extreme pressure I was able to

focus and do my job. Although fully trained I didn’t expect to have to do CPR, however, in what was a life changing experience, I was able to help save some ones life. This has given me the confidence to know that in the future given any situation I’d be able to help someone in trouble.

a three-course meal it is important to make sure you are giving the best service possible.

Freelance Model-making work

• Freelance work at Artisan Model makers (June- September 2014) Tel: 01242 268144 Email: [email protected]

• Freelance model maker/ designer JSM Model-making (November 2014- Current) Tel: +44 01672 512305 Email: [email protected].  Involved in projects ranging from Music artists, Advertising campaigns and 8ft Brit Awards 2015.

• I am currently involved in an on going project with the Alternate Limb creator- Sophie de Oliveira Barata creating custom prosthetic limbs. The project utilizes the new technique I developed of laser etching a tattoo into the silicone prosthetic as well as inlaying cured silicone into uncured silicone to create an adhesive bond.

Project Management- Custom prosthetic limbs- design, development and creation

• One of my projects was the idea behind desensitising society towards custom prosthetic limbs, making them cheaper and more readily available. I not only wanted children, but society in general to be proud of that missing limb and create that connection with the prosthetic.

• My project on prosthetics was based around giving individuality and creativity to amputees allowing for that

design freedom and creativity

• Using technology I created my R & D project of laser cutting silicone (something I was told couldn't be done). I

found a way to laser cut sheeted silicone and in-lay it into the uncured silicone prosthetic limbs. I was able to design tattoos on the computer and laser etch them into the prosthetics giving the amputee the freedom of tattoos on prosthetics.

• The Laser cutting technique I developed efficiently cuts through the silicone, with minimal damage and residue,

no harmful residue or chemicals are given off from laser etching or cutting the silicone.

• The laser cutting of the silicone allowed for a quicker and cheaper way of creating prosthetics as well as the

opportunity for more intricate designs and allows the amputee to have more freedom over designing.

• Custom prosthetic limbs at the moment can cost as much as £50,000, my laser cut silicone limbs were

designed to be available at £1000.

• Jackie was my first ever client and has the tiger tattoo shown in the images below- a year on the prosthetic leg,

tattoo and ink are still working, No ink has leaked, the colour and design are still as vibrant as the day the ink was inlaid.

• Created an online database called a tattoo bank. This consisted of over a hundred computer drawn tattoo

designs stored on file ready to be laser etched into limbs.

• This project was extremely challenging, working to extreme deadlines, developing new techniques and

materials, but allowed me to gain new skills; project management as well as learn in-depth chemical structures about silicone as well as managing an R&D project

Creativity, passion and innovation

• Whether it is conceptual drawings or designs, the maquette’s or prototypes produced, or even the finished project my passion and diverse skillset keeps me motivated to learn and develop further.

• For me my passion lies within ‘problem solving’ in design and creativity- I love a challenge and the impossible.

Developing a technique, or material, developing a new way to make something more efficient or innovative.

• I am efficient, use materials wisely and environmentally and have a commercial mindset to understand the

value of things. I will always give 100% to any task or project I am given.

• Specifically my strongest skills lie within material development, designing, molding and casting, fibre-glassing,

work shop machinery and laser cutting. However, I am also trained and efficient in sculpting, animation, architecture, and computer software from 3d printing CAD/CAM to Zbrush.

• I am enthusiastic about material development within the model making industry and developing technologies,

improving and making more efficient models.

• I enjoy working across the industry fields and creating a diverse range of models, props, prototypes,

fabrications, SFX make-up and computer work.
