    To:Dr. DeMuth, Superintendent

From:Beverly Smith, Director of School & Community Services

    Date: March 6, 2012

MCCSC Vision, Mission, & Core Values Survey Results

Update from March 5, 2012 Work Session

    Feedback Summary:

Respondents were grateful for the opportunity to offer feedback and generally agreed with updating the

guiding framework of the corporation. The comments were varied and direct in many cases, yet should

be viewed as constructive. Three basic themes emerged:

Minimize usage of corporate jargon, buzz words and acronyms. Discuss wording such as World -Class, Student Achievement, Leaders and Resources. Evaluate whether meaning is really

clear to the general public. These words can sound vague to the community and hard to define

    for those charged with implementation.

Final product should be edited for syntax as well as intent. The hard work of the committee caneasily be undone by grammatical errors and sentence structure issues.

Keep it simple, flexible and relatable. Such work has to live for many years. It should reflect theeducational goals of the community. Wording should be valuable yet give the school corporation

room to grow. Statements also should be memorable for the reader and implementer, never

    burdensome.
