Dear Members,

It was wonderful to witness firsthand the efforts and

achievements of our nippers at the state qualifiers last

Saturday and Sunday.

I witnessed many of our athletes qualify for the State Titles.

This is testament to the efforts of our Age Managers, special

mention of our nipper coach’s Callan Preiato, Claire Rafferty

and Andrew Ridley and their assistants.

A club as one is a club of strength!

The club foyer renovation is taking shape. Our

appreciation goes to Sorrento Old Salts; Don Preiato for

his handy work, Alan Colley and Bob Cousins for their

wonderful painting skills.

On Sunday the 28th of February, a true favourite of

Sorrento Surf Club, Jason Ayres will be returning. Jason

has entertained us before to packed out Surf Club

audiences with rave reviews. Since he has played for us

last he has done some amazing work backing up many

well-known artists including; Anastasia, James Reyne and

Daryl Braithwaite.

Don’t miss out, bring a few friends and your nibbles and

be prepared for a great afternoon with the added bonus

of a Sorrento Sunset!

So Café-: It is always good to keep in mind that when you use the

So café all proceeds go back to our club and benefit

you, the member, in the long run. The outside kiosk is

privately run, however the So café is solely owned and

run by the Sorrento Surf Club.

Come in on the weekends and try out the coffee. Our

new machine is delivering a well-balanced cup of coffee

to match any along the coast.

Champion Patrol-: On the weekend we held champion patrol and I would like to thank the patrol for their assistance and the

IRB drivers Evan Bunford and Harry James who had been at the beach since 5am and did not leave until

1pm. also Muzz and Paul who helped out and packed away the equipment after the carnival.

Rego Sheet is up for Premiership Series Round 5 on the 21st February at Trigg please make sure you write

your name on the sheet and pay online asap, closing on the 17th.

Good luck to all athletes competing in the State R&R Championships at Sorrento on Saturday and the

athletes competing in the State Belt Race Championships on Sunday at Trigg. We are still looking for

volunteers to man the reel for these races. Please contact Andrew Ridley if you can help.

Make sure you are training as we are getting closer to States with only 4 weeks to go!!

There is a flyer up and in the newsletter with all upcoming events and fees. Please make sure you register on

time for all these events. As registrations for States and Aussies close around the same time it is a very busy

time and everything needs to be entered before the cut off to avoid late fees.

Masters Athletes please put your name on rego sheet near the Ladies toilets for Masters States and pay

$38.00 online through the payment gate way. Meeting for all Masters competing in Masters States on

Wednesday the 24th February at 6.30pm in the courtyard to organise team events. Masters men please meet

with Rob Doherty and Greg McIntosh and Masters Ladies please meet with Sue Lemmon and Janie Rowse.

After teams are organised I will load them into the system.

AUSSIES 2016-: Please make sure if you haven’t already put your Touring Forms in please, do so as soon

as possible. We also need your size for the Aussies Jackets.

Aussie early bird registrations are out. This is a payment of $85 until the 4th February

then it goes up to $100. All entries close on the 17th March. Take advantage of the

discount and pay as per normal through the gate way. Please make sure you clearly

write your name, age group and title it Aussies 2016.

The events next year will be split over 3 venues on the Sunshine Coast - Qld -

Maroochydore (Water events), Alexandra Headland (Lifesaving, Board Riding & Boats) &

Mooloolaba (Beach events).

We have secured accommodation at 2 venues in Mooloolaba-:

MANTRA Group Mooloolaba.

This is only a 10 min drive from Maroochydore. TRANSPORT WILL BE YOUR OWN

RESPONSIBILITY THIS TIME.

Prices range from $200 per night for a 1 Bed Apartment (2 people) Up to $395 per night

for a 2 Bed Apartment (4 people).
