Christian Clearing House (CCH) is

honored to be a finalist for the 2016

Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics

with the Better Business Bureau

(BBB). CCH received accreditation

in 2014, meeting all Better Business

Bureau

standards and

following the

highest

principles of

business ethics.

On May 26,

Board Members

and Staff

traveled to

Toledo for the

finalist award.

Even though

applying for the

Torch Award was an arduous

process, we feel that CCH was

named a finalist because of our

community’s support and our track

record over the past 21 years—the

programs we provide directly assist

those facing financial crisis.

Not only does CCH offer financial

support to our neighbors “in need,”

we also offer services referring clients

to programs that may assist them

with both long and short term needs.

At CCH we work to create

partnerships and

community

collaborations to

better assist

clients.

CCH is able to

offer support

because of the

generous

backing of our 51

participating

congregations,

volunteers, donors,

area businesses,

along with our dedicated Board of

Directors and staff.

Thank you for your continued

support of Christian Clearing House.

We are blessed that God has

provided us YOU!

and toilet tissue. Many church

congregations and businesses set

up donation boxes during the

holiday season to collect items for

CCH. All donations are greatly

appreciated and distributed directly

to those with needs here in our

community.

Summer is the time of the year the

CCH office is the busiest. We

believe the reason for the increase

in assistance comes this time of

the year because school is out,

children are now eating additional

meals at home and working

parents need to pay for child care.

Also, other assistance programs

for utilities are inactive. At CCH,

we see the families that are living

on the edge that fall behind for

many different reasons.

If you would like to help provide

items for families with needs,

please see the list. All

donations (including monetary)

are tax deductible and greatly

appreciated.

diapers are in high

demand.

Imagine what it would be like to

have just changed your baby

and using the very last diaper, or

having no toilet tissue and steal-

ing from a public facility…..not

very pleasant thoughts. Many of

the clients Christian Clearing

House (CCH) helps, face these

dilemmas daily. We see clients

that have not bathed in days or

children elated to receive a tooth

brush because they have to

share with a sibling. As unfortu-

nate as it sounds, it is the reality

that comes to life daily within the

CCH office.

The cupboard donations started

a few years back when a Boy

Scout needing a project decided

to solicit his church congregation

for donations to make hygiene

kits for individuals/families need-

ing such items. In 2015, the

cupboard had grown to an esti-

mated dollar value on the items

received and distributed of more

than $24,000. The cupboard

often works in mysterious ways.

Often the staff will look at the

shelves and comment on how

bare they have become, then

someone will knock on the door

or call stating that they have a

donation of taxable items they

would like to drop off.

CCH has a budget fund to pur-

chase items when the shelves

are empty, which typically is

used to replenish laundry soap

The Caring Cupboard at Work

On May 3, 2016, CCH’s staff Tammy Stahl,

Executive Director and Debbie Benson,

Office Manager, along with Board Members

Mike Noggle and Jane Stout, traveled to

Columbus to the OANO (Ohio Association of

Nonprofit Organizations)

Conference. Christian

Clearing House was

nominated as an

outstanding, new program

of the year in the State of

Ohio for Project Happy

Feet (PHF). We are proud

to announce that PHF was

selected as a state finalist

for the award.

In 2015, CCH distributed

shoe vouchers to more

than 500 area children going back to school

in the fall. Project Happy Feet will take place

again this fall in combination with Stuff the

Bus. The program is designed to allow

children to go to the store and pick out their

own shoes.

Funding for Project Happy Feet has been

raised through community donations and

grants from Rotary and The Findlay-Hancock

Community Foundation. Additional dollars

are needed to continue the program. If you

would like to donate, please make checks

payable to Christian Clearing House or donate

via PayPal at www.cchsupport.org. Add Project

Happy Feet in the memo section.

If you know of a

family in need of

receiving school

supplies and shoes,

registration is

required.

Applications to

register will be

available beginning

July 11, 2016 at The

Family Center.

Stuff the Bus will take

place on July 21–23 at

McDonald’s on Tiffin

Ave. If your church or business would like to set

up a collection box for supplies to help in the

community school supply distribution, donations

can be dropped off at The Family Center on or

before August 6th. Backpacks are always the

largest needs. The backpacks filled with

supplies will be distributed prior to the start of

school.

At CCH we are……………

“Filling Shoes with Hopeful Futures.”
